Octopus Tracker

Just to clarify. The SVR (OFGEM) cap doesn't effect Tracker or Agile. Its the EPG rates that have put an artificial ceiling on prices below Octopus's Tracker and Agile specific caps.
In July the EPG rates will increase by about 20%. That will be the new upper limit on Tracker and Agile. Those signing up for Tracker thinking its cheap may get a shock when they get odd days with higher rates, especially as those odd days will likely be colder ones where more gas is used. Likewise those who signed up to Agile and didn't load shift might get a shock when the rates between 4 and 7 start hitting 40p and they still have a lot of usage during those hours.
Interesting times.

Can you not have them fitted in time for when you need to renew?Griffindog said:
The estimated costs are SVR so they are almost double what I pay on tracker. I’m hoping SVR comes down in June so there is less difference. I don’t have smart meters so staying on tracker isn’t an option.westv said:
Are those estimated costs much different to what you are paying now?Griffindog said:I’ve just had my renewal email and haven’t got a smart meter. There’s nothing to say what rates we transfer onto if we stick with tracker. I read somewhere that you go onto a different waiting list until new meters are installed so you don’t need to go on the six month list and should get tracker back as soon as you have smart meters.
Your term will be a year, it should tell you on your dashboard under tariff info.SAC2334 said:

Octopus have nt emailed or messaged me. I started in Jan this year .
Do you have anything that looks like this?

The renewal email from Octopus that I quoted a couple of pages back states that you can only stay on Tracker if you have smart meters.SAC2334 said:

I wasn't sure when that started applying but thinking about it, if the newest version is November 22 and SAC joined in Jan 23 that would most certainly explain it.Xbigman said:

New fixed term tariff's aren't allowed under the EPG so Octopus has classed all new Tracker and Agile deals as variable.
Darren
Interesting, I wonder what Octopus will do about enforcing smart meters on that tariff version then.1 -
I am not sure what that means being as from July price cap is expected to be below EPG, if that is the case EPG unit rate reduction will cease to apply, upper limit for Tracker and Agile.will be version product caps.Xbigman said:

The EPG continues until April next year but calculated using typical usage of £3000 rather than £2500 from 1st July. As you say, the OFGEM cap will be below that but the current 'Evergreen Agile' tariff terms and conditions have a higher contractual cap that overrides the OFGEM cap but not the EPG cap.
This raises the question of whether 'Evergreen Agile' is a standard variable tariff as its now classed as variable and thus covered by the OFGEM cap. I believe the answer is no. I view the variable part to mean variable length thus its not a fixed tariff for the purposes of the EPG only.
On the subject of the EPG. I can see the government removing this if the OFGEM cap keeps falling on the basis it is irrelevant. That would be a shame as both Tracker and Agile would lose valuable potential protection.

From July whilst Price Cap is below EPG level there will not be any tax payer funded EPG kWh rate reductions, Octopus can of course reduce product cap to any level it wishes at potentially its own cost/risk.Xbigman said:bristolleedsfan said:

If anyone is not happy with product cap level they are free to change to a different tariff.

How many tracker customers are there?0

This is incorrect, probably because they are failing to realise that there are non standard tariff's out there.
I might be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Whilst I get what your saying the Agile and Tracker tariffs in my view (and I am on the tariffs) have benefitted from the EPG when it's original aim was to cap unit rates on variable tariffs so no aversge user was paying the £4500-£6000 per annum.Xbigman said:

Agile and Tracker are a bit different to your standard variable tariff and a loophole in the EPG has allowed those on these tariffs to be protected all round,. against high prices one way but then also on some days paying a rate that would not be seen as being high anyway, take this weekend with Gas less than half that of the Ofgem variable and Elec on Tracker just over half.
Tracker and Agile are riskier tariffs where you benefit on good days and lose on the others, you take that chance and for everyone who has been on tracker the past 12mths have paid alot less than the SVT, those of us who take a risk with this tariff should not be protected other than by Octopus own tariff caps.
