I completely agree with the first part of what you say. It was a situation where we would pay the same as everyone else or less, we couldn't pay more. This is why there was a stampede onto tracker as others realised this, leading to the waiting list we have now.
As for your second point, I sort of agree. I said last October that the EPG should have been applied to the average Tracker/Agile price paid and not the maximum. That would have been much fairer.

This is incorrect, probably because they are failing to realise that there are non standard tariff's out there.
I might be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

From 1 July 2023 Price cap level is expected to be lower than EPG level.
Why do you believe non standard variable tariff consumers will continue to receive EPG discount from 1 July whilst SVR consumers will not and how would EPG unit rate discount be arrived at, the other thing of course is increasing EPG from £2500 to £3000 was designed to reduce as opposed to increase Government subsidy.0 -
Just had by renewal email re v3 tracker (gas only - no smart meter) - same email as one posted earlier in this thread.Replied back asking to stay on tracker and had an email back sayingI have not applied to have a smart gas meter so will see what actually happens in 6 weeks time.
'Thanks for getting in touch with us at Octopus Energy. I'm glad to hear that you've decided to stay on the Octopus Tracker tariff for your gas.'

Be interesting as to what they do I think they will just leave it all as is without the need for a smart meter.0 -
I’ve just booked my smart meter installation too. Knowing my luck I would have been kicked off tracker if I hadn’t. I might reply back now anyway.0

Refreshingly Octopus seem to be more generous to existing customers than new ones when applying rules.0

I emailed to continue on Tracker and was told to ‘renew tariff’ on my account or phone them on (no number provided). I knew it wouldn’t go smoothly.0

Found a number, phoned, answered after about a minute, the lady put me on hold while she updated my account, came back 5 minutes later and said it was all done. Smart meters not mentioned but the booking probably shows on my account. How long does it take for the new details to show up on your account/app?0

I have tracker 3 for gas and electric, ending on 26 June. I received my renewal email yesterday - I replied to affirm that I wanted to stay with tracker. Octopus confirmed extension today but I see that caps have increased to 100/30 rather than my current 39.99/10.99.
At the current rates I'm still expecting tracker to be the best bet. I'm going to save approx, £500 for the year compared with SVR.0
