  • I will be jumping for joy if they let me continue my V3, although I’d be happy with any tracker.

It is superb that Octopus have rewarded people taking the chance on their beta products with these extensions.

Another big tick int he OctoBox
That’s a big assumption. I am waiting to see what happens next month!  Renewals for Go (and the now defunct Go Faster) were always based on the tariff version in play at the time for most customers. Mistakes were made with renewals.
How can something that has been known to have been done/happened year on year and confirmed as having been done/happened this year be regarded an an assumption let alone a big  assumption.

The year was 2021 same year typo mistake, same do nothing get 12 months tariff extension .....

Great stuff, the only thing that may change things in the future is the number of customers they now have on Tracker, its always been a fringe product but now the masses are on board they may become less generous with rolling it, hopefully I am wrong but to have a wait list and insist on a smart meter things are certainly changing, fill yer boots while you can i say.

Much to my surprise, my v1 has been rolled over for another year.

    Over the moon.
Oh my, that's excellent. I hope they say the same to me. There's only 16 people in the entire country on the V2 so fingers crossed.
It was a hell of a punt to start with - I didn't know about this forum then but it has changed the way I think about energy.
And turned me into a bit of an energy geek. 😁
  • The standing charges are over £100 cheaper on V1 then current rates?  That is a huge saving for low users.
Tell me about it!!! The reasonably low standing charge, even at the time, and the very low usage on the supply (I have two, don't ask) was the reason I decided the punt was worth the risk at the time. I was gutted that the ill-conceived price cap (which did little for those it was meant to be aimed at - those on prepayment tariffs) meant the demise of no-standing-charge tariffs.

What a brilliant punt it's turned out to be. Equally gutted I didn't put the main supply on to it, though I'd started switch to Octopus before the new Ts&Cs. Now, with connected SMETS2 being a pre-req, and me being out of 2G coverage, there's no chance.

I suspect that consumers with PV solar switching to a zero standing charge tariff from March to September didn’t make for a particularly good business model. Every customer costs a supplier money which it has to recover in some way.

I wish I'd joined Tracker sooner, as it's already saved me quite a bit. More energy companies should introduce similar.

I wish I'd known it/trackers existed sooner too, although I may have been hesitant to switch going into winter (only joined Octopus in October anyway).
I only knew about it because I saw a couple of threads about it on here (thank you, everyone), spent a week pondering it, checking the daily rates, then switched mid Jan.
So the unit cap is much higher than earlier versions, but the risk of higher unit prices, is hopefully dropping heading into spring, and with dropping wholesale costs too.

Hehe, trying to imagine how BG would manage 1/2 hourly calculations when they struggle to get a bill right every 6 months.

Nearly spat my coffee out laughing at that, then ended up pulling the "eek" emoji face, thinking about just how messed up your account/bill would be.

The many suppliers that have or are moving to Kraken it will be exactly the same platform as Octopus of course so you would think, barring the front end layout, it should all work the same way.....

Should I be worried about the flying pink thing outside?
