  • Long term Tracker people have any of you renewed recently? I'm on the April V2 and I'm dreading it ending. How are Octopus handling renewals?

Throughout the year I've 'overpaid' on electricity and 'underpaid' on gas. That suits me fine, I don't like being cold and my electricity use is not so high anyway.

What to do when my contract ends? I guess it's going to be painful no matter what...
  • That gives us hope
  • The current trajectory with wholesale energy does seem to be downwards so for octopus maybe the caps and different tracker tariff versions will not be so much of an issue for them, with the exception of V1 it's getting less likely the caps will be hit on the other versions.

When you say they are rolling the tariff over does it state its fixed with an end date or has it simply moved to a rolling month by month, Its interesting they can do it when v1 is no longer available, Octopus have said to me previously once a tariff is removed they cannot reinstate without authorisation from a manager and its just not available on the system to select.

mpellatt said: "my v1 has been rolled over for another year"

End date will be 12 months later from previous end date, 12 month fixed term extension has always been do nothing option when tracker tariff comes to end of 12 month term.

"if you'd like to stick with Octopus Tracker for a further 12 months, you don't need to do anything - we'll automatically extend your tariff until"................ ( year has long standing typo error)

Octopus are not reinstating a tariff they are automatically extending it for a further12 months.

Does that apply to Agile too? I've been wondering what to do when my current Agile deal ends at the end of May which isn't that far away now.

  • I hope they allow people on Tracker V2 and V3 to continue on the same terms too.

Does the extension Inc the same caps or do the caps related to the latest / current tracker tariff apply.

The caps on v1 for Gas are 6p, the latest tracker 30p, so a big difference, if you do nothing are you saying that the 6p cap still applies for another year, whilst wholesale prices are falling they could be rising it just would seem a strange business strategy to allow the same cap to roll over each year when gas unit prices are unlikely to be below 6p that often.

Where do you see an end date, for those that have one? I can't see it stated on the account, the tariff change email or the bill. My tariff is identified as "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1" and there's also a reference SILVER-FLEX-22-11-25

    Mine's on my dashboard

ID: screenshot of tariff info section of an Octopus energy dashboard.

I think the November one may have been the first version that wasn't a 12-month term though, because the EPG couldn't apply to new 'fixes'.  (Either that or the October version was the very first, but that was short-lived!)
