My last bill had actual usage properly applied across the individual days. This has been the case with every previous bill except one.

I normally do get properly billed for daily usage, though my first bill for both gas and electricity wasn't and it seemed to be done by some kind of algorithm, the price wasn't far off from what I had calculated though0

My December bill looked like Peter's above, but the January one was averaged as the 4th Jan data was missing.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

At the moment, according to the Octopus app, my estimated direct debit on the 2nd of March is £72.13 - a £6.13 increase on what I’ve been paying EDF even though I’ve done nothing really different as far as energy usage goes. I turned my heating on last night for a few hours for the first time in almost 10 days as well.
Everyone seems to be commenting on how much they’ve saved and yet mine has gone up. Can anyone advise as to what I can do to check it’s all set up properly ?
I’m not home at the moment but I will ring Octopus tomorrow for some advice but if anyone has a minute I’d be grateful.0 -
You should have been given a quote before your tariff was changed to tracker tariff, that quote would have been based on 12 months at an estimated unit rate that tends not to be very reliable being as 2020 was nothing like 2019, 2021 nothing like 2020 etc.jasonwatkins said:At the moment, according to the Octopus app, my estimated direct debit on the 2nd of March is £72.13 - a £6.13 increase on what I’ve been paying EDF even though I’ve done nothing really different as far as energy usage goes. If that estimated unit rate was higher than EPG/EDF rate DD monthly payment by budget DD would be higher, you might be able to change monthly payment yourself within account dashboard, if not able to change monthly amount contact them asking to reduce DD.

On the Octopus website there's a page where you can manually reduce your direct debit payment. It is possible that for the first payment they want a specific amount.1 -
Your DD is based on what they think you might use over the next 12 months including any debit/credit on your account and future price increases. You need to make an honest assessment of your usage and calculate your own figure. Octopus like you to build sufficient credit over the summer to carry you through winter so that you never go into debit.1
