I have 48 days left on gas tracker according to the App. The 49 day rule has been changed to reasonable notice given that we now have 5? Day switching.bristolleedsfan said:
They are (or at least have been up until now) been sending out tariff options email about 7 weeks before fixed term expires. My gas fixed term expires March 14th. electricity fixed term expires 2 April.tlcgrantham said:
Will those of us coming up to renewal be affected? What tariffs might we be offered?SJMALBA said:

As others have reported on the Octopus smart forum, renewals can be a bit hit and miss.bristolleedsfan said:

It's been covered before but with 195 pages it's a bit much to dig out.
I am on Gas tracker tariff with a smart meter, up to date usage appear in the Octopus app daily but when the bill lands they still average the monthly use, putting some random usage against each day that does not tally with the my actual daily use.
I always thought the idea of tracker and smart meters you could see the rate daily and approx cost on that day. I understand over a month it would level out but last week we were away for 3 days that were by chance the most expensive and we used next to nothing Gas but the bill shows 50kwh on each day.
For our Octopus Go there is no issue and it's billee per day based on actual usage.. Why can't they do the same for Gas
Is this the same for everyone else on Tracker with a smart meters giving half hourly readings.0 -

My smart meters are on a 30minute profile and I agree with what you are seeing. Even allowing for the slight difference between the fixed CV used by Bright and the average CV used by Octopus, the daily differences are stark: I have no idea why. Look at the period 25th to 27th January. The total usage based on index readings is though correct.
As my cap is below the price, there is no billing impact - for me.
Given that Tracker has just been made a smart tariff, I suspect that billing changes are afoot.1 -
Looking at my latest bill for Gas Tracker, my daily usage is pretty close to what daily readings were given on the “Hugo” app- and I’m sure the slight difference in Daily KWh is down to the variance in the CV calc - my smart meters are also on a (30) minute profile
So does this mean they are trialling different billing methods ?

I def get electricity usage billed for correct day, gas a few days within month I use nothing showing usage. ....savers_united said:

No - the Tracker tariffs were developed prior to the mass uptake of smart meters. I am pretty sure that there is one billing method based on the frequency of meter readings. Someone with an analogue meter would probably get the same result if daily meter readings were provided. By moving Tracker into the smart category, I have a hunch that Octopus may move to 30 minute usage billing which it seems to favour. I could be wrong.northernsparky said:Looking at my latest bill for Gas Tracker, my daily usage is pretty close to what daily readings were given on the “Hugo” app- and I’m sure the slight difference in Daily KWh is down to the variance in the CV calc - my smart meters are also on a (30) minute profile

That's good then, I'm not alone... I just don't check the actual daily usage against the bill as took it the smart meter sorted all that like with Octopus Go.[Deleted User] said:

It does seem pointless giving a daily rate if they don't accurately charge against the usage on those days.
But maybe as you say things are about to change now they insist on a smart meter.0 -
Yes, but profiling permission applies to both meters. I get 30 minute usage data for both gas and electricity.bristolleedsfan said:
