In our current and probably final house. there's a filled-in unusable corner. In the hall in front of it there's am understairs toilet.shower whose shower stand takes up the missing corner of the kitchen.

I’ve always known that people from other countries find it strange that it’s common to have washing machines in the kitchen in Britain, but I hadn’t really given it much thought until I read this thread. My current house has a sizeable utility room with a standalone washing machine concealed in a mock kitchen cabinet. Since the pandemic and remote working, its doubled as our second office/study, which people seem to find bizarre but I do all my laundry on a Saturday morning, so why let a perfectly good room go to waste the rest of the week? However, judging by all of the houses of people I know, it’s definitely not all that unusual to have utilities in the garage.2

Here is another post where OP’s problems continue: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6258151/properties-sold-before-able-to-view/p1
OP does not seem to top of the estate agents’ lists of people to call when a new property is coming up.0 -
I've got the washing machine here in the garage. On the downside, it's a pain to have to go outside to do a wash. On the upside, I don't hear the washing machine in the house. Doesn't seem a big deal either way0

Many of us have lived in many different houses with different solutions to basic needs of life, a short while ago there was discussion about a laundry room in a garden, my nan had a twin tub that she used to wheel out and boil the washing, I have had washing machines in kellers in Germany, by far the most effective solution for me.
The OP expected a house, including a washing machine as part of a fitted kitchen, and a garage and that both would be usable. Seems reasonable to me but a shame that those that have different aspirations felt it necessary to mock rather than be helpful.2 -
