As it's a requirement for you, when you see these properties pop up online and can't see the washing machine, ask the EA where it is.

As others have said, it's not hard to remove part of a kitchen unit to accommodate a washing machine, I did it for my fridge as I was fed up having it in the pantry.

I have a huge open plan kitchen. My washer and dryer are in a detached garage. I personally prefer not to have them in the house. For most of the year my washing goes on the line so I’m outside anyway doesn’t make any difference which direction I’m coming from to get there.

Yesterday. OH and myself viewed 4 bungalows. Travelled 3.5 hours each way to view.
All four on description had new / recent integrated kitchen installed. On two of them, we found that these did not have washing machine as part of integrated unit or space for one.
These two had washing machines in garage. Which was away from house. Is this bad practice by selling EA?

This is the most stupid post I have come across! A washing machine is not part of a kitchen. Since when did people start washing plates, cutlery and crockery in a washing machine.
A washing machine and dryer have no place in a kitchen, they belong in the laundry room or utility space.
It beggars belief someone actually complains of a fitted kitchen not having a clothes washing appliance, common sense - laundry and laundrette are words that go along with this.
I am waiting for the next post complaining why the fitted kitchen doesn’t have a boiler, a bathtub, a WC, a bidet, a wash basin, a shower....

This thread has become quite odd.  Washing machines are frequently in kitchens - but unlike ovens can also be elsewhere for example utility room, bathroom or garage.

I would expect an oven, fridge and possibly dishwasher and integrated appliances in a kitchen.  Not necessarily a washing machine or tumble drier.

But the poster here is being a little too precious

Your response is just unnecessarily rude.

Many people do have their washing machine in the kitchen as space restricts it being elsewhere.

And so it does have its place. Not everyone has the luxury of a laundry room or utility space . If that's all you have ever known then it isn't stupid for someone to assume that's what happens in not properties. A bit naïve perhaps but not stupid.

It doesn't mean it has to be there or that it should or should not be.

However I do agree it is not what I would have expected as an integrated applicable in a upgraded kitchen.

For us when we looked at integrated washing machines, we found none which met our wishes. Much happier with our freestanding one. Which is indeed in the kitchen as we have a 2 up 2 down with no external buildings.

OP you can just remove a cupboard like doozergal said.

I am not the person ignorantly accusing the estate agent of property misdescription am I?
I have lived in property that has had washer/dryer in the kitchen, laundry cupboards, garage, utility room, bathroom. I don’t go about accusing people of misrepresented of property without doing at least the minimum investigation.

What proportion of dwellings in the UK do you think have a dedicated "laundry room or utility space"?

I am not into the statistics of things, but I would expect a modicum of common sense. First place I lived in had was newly decorated house with a new boiler and tank in the master bedroom. Do you think I complained the next new build I bought didn’t have a boiler and tank in the master bedroom and accused the EA of being off?

Wow that escalated.  I've lived in a property with the washing machine in the kitchen.  Really annoying trying to do washing while husband with doing dinner or breakfast.   But there was nowhere else to put it.    My current property has the washing machine in a cupboard in the hall.  Much more convenient and makes perfect sense.

I don't have a utility room sadly, so it's in the Kitchen no problems for me.
If you have utility great, if not garage or elsewhere or kitchen, personal preference.

When renting/buying, it is up to you to provide due diligence, not the EA
