Fitted kitchen no washing machine

There is a size mismatch in the UK between old garage sizes and modern cars.
Bizarrely it still seems to happen even in more modern houses.
You will struggle to get anything bigger than a minicar/city car in a British garage. Most people use them for storage.
I can't explain it or justify it, although British cars used to be absolutely tiny after the war. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker8 -
To my mind a washing machine is for a utility room and short of that I would not presume that it would be in a kitchen anymore that an outbuilding or garage.4

Just lost a massive reply. 🤦🏼♀️In short, I was saying that it's better to use this forum to look at how you can resolve potential issues than it is to ask people to agree that the EA is no good. Most EAs will have barely stepped foot in the house. They will try on the details, but they can't cover everything that everyone wants to know on a listing. The WM can be moved. You do not need to renovate a whole kitchen. You can unscrew any 60cm unit and employ a plumber for a couple of hours and you're in business. It might also be possible to accommodate it elsewhere on the floorplan. Be creative, or ask the forum.Re: garage. You'll need to measure for the size suitable for you, but if you are talking about properties with small floorspace, is garaging the car the best use of expensive real estate? Cars are more hardy than they were and garages are *very* expensive sheds. I would rather have a nice amount of living space than my car (or indeed my junk) have the luxury of a roof and walls to sleep under. One can usually build a lovely permanent structure in the garden for anything other than a car, for much less than the value of the garage.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

GJB1954 said:Yesterday. OH and myself viewed 4 bungalows. Travelled 3.5 hours each way to view. All four on description had new / recent integrated kitchen installed. On two of them, we found that these did not have washing machine as part of integrated unit or space for one.
These two had washing machines in garage. Which was away from house. Is this bad practice by selling EA?That could be a just fridge, all the way up to every appliance.
Plus a washing machine isn’t a kitchen appliance, it’s a utility.
If I could, I’d have the washing machine in a separate building to get rid of the noise - hardly going to be a long walk....30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.1 -
I wish our washing machine was in the garage. The noise of the fast spin annoys me a lot!1

Our washing machine is in the garage, we were going to bring it in but bought a dishwasher instead. We actually prefer it now as the living/kitchen area is semi open plan0

I feel quite sorry for the OP. A 7 hour round trip, and the end result was seeing four properties that all have drawbacks. That must be really frustrating. Not to mention tiring. I’m not sure I’d be able to make important decisions after such a long drive.
It might be worth staying in the neighbourhood for a couple of nights, so you can squeeze in a few more viewings. I’m not sure whether that is allowed at the moment? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?4 -

Haven't had a washing machine in my kitchen for 40 years. It's sited elsewhere in the home.
