NST April 2021: Diamonds and Daisies

Odd day today. Got up early, did 3 loads of laundry and got them all line dried, made a crumble and a sponge, potted up all the houseplants into bigger containers (and the sprouted piece of ginger), noticed the mint is going absolutely crazy already (we eat mint in quantities hard to explain to anyone who does not already understand).Battlestar Galactica consumed, walked down to Herr Ron for more lunchbox tat for Monday.Bathrooms cleaned. Smashed a small bowl (doh!), supplies inventorized and menus planned. Small shopping list getting longer, but will deal with that on Spendy Monday after the morning school run.Still on NSD5 but waiting on cashback sites and p/a to pay out and when it does, the budgets are back to being fine.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I think today might have been my first NSD.
I am grateful for mum eating some food. Me being able to clean the living room, move a cupboard and clean out the under the stairs cupboard with pretty much a free hand!
I can actually see how things will come together in the house. XXNevertheless she persisted.8 -
Today will be NSD6 as I am not going anywhere to spend anything. So it must be a NSD - or so the theory goes.......

Woke up yesterday to more snow, but the sun was shining. Sorted out the entrance to the shed, we can now get in & out so much better & have access to the boxes stored in there. Found a few things to sell, a box of festive books was sold within a minute! A load of washing line dried.
A Sparrowhawk visited our garden! It was 3ft from the house, behind a wind break net screen, so could see it clearly. A large bird has visited our garden a few times, but this was the first time it could be identified.
Had a nice phonecall with neighbour to tell her, as she'd spotted it a few times over the fence. Then another with FiL who's been ill since before December.
Hubby managed to eat some soup, but still quite ill. His tongue is swollen on one side as he's bitten it a few times by accident, does anyone know what I can do to help ease it?
Woke to more snow today, might light a bonfire before the wind picks up.
Grateful for the small pleasure of hanging out the washing, the seedlings in the greenhouse still being alive despite not being watered for a week, hubby managing to eat, visiting wildlifeUse it up, wear it out

@f@f0xh0les - I eat loads of mint too, and use it for tea (with ginger and lemon)
Yesterday ended up being a bit blah, weather was just a bit yuck. Lots of rest and went shopping and did some batch cooking. I had a delicious, delicious dinner, with leftovers for breakfast. I have realised over the past few weeks there is quite a lot of winter lockdown extra weight. So I am being a bit more focussed with food (and wine) for the next few months. So the myf1itn3sspal got busted out again!
Delights and gratitudes for yesterday
- Fresh Shetland mussels in an Asian broth for lunch - supper scrummy!
- the joy of the fridge being sufficiently full with ready to go food in there and the freezer.
- only one glass of wine....didn't buy any when I went shopping 😇3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000
Stocks and shares ISA: £1497
Additional pension contributions £0
Overpayment on mortgage: £0

Thrifty - would ice help your hubby's tongue? To reduce the swelling.

@Thrifty_Taylor anything that is good for teething babies will help him out no end. He just has to be careful not to bite it again if he uses the teething gel which numbs the area. Total relief in about 10 seconds.Chamomile tea will reduce the swelling - he can use it as a mouthwash- but it is also a diuretic, so if he is not terrible mobile he might not appreciate it, but it is kinder than some mouthwashes that can be very strong and harsh. The dentist tends to recommend a nasty tasting mouthwash, C0rsodyl for mouth ulcers and wounds, so that would probably be a good longer term fix.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

NSD 6/16
Sunday Sweep
£24.08 grocery underspend
£20 leisure underspend
= £44.08 going into savings which takes me to £70.18 of my £100 target for the month.
Currently saving spending money for a possible trip to DS’s grandparents’ static caravan sometime soon.
I returned my free audiobook to the library yesterday. The story ‘Shuggie Bain’ was too heavy and sad, and didn’t seem like it was going to lighten up. OH has read it and told me the rest of the story. I made the right decision not to continue with it. Found another Marian Keyes’ to listen too. One cover review said ‘hilariously funny’. That’ll do me! Started listening to it on my walk this morning (it’s freezing and frosty here too so I had on thermals!).
Last night I also started reading the first in a series of books OH gave me for Xmas. I like an audiobook for walking and cleaning the house, but a hard copy book for bedtime.
Still no interest in my fleabay listings so I’m going going to use one of the quick-sell sites to shift the small pile of books. Should get just over £5 for them. Better than collecting dust on the shelf.
Grateful today for a leisurely bath while DS seen his grandparents on video call, strawberries starting to get sweeter, and for text chats with two friends I’ve not seen in a while and who I’ll be meeting up with soon, hopefully.
