NST March 2021: a turtle rollercoaster

MMM yes the cooked garbanzos are so good apple! I’ve never worked out what they’re cooked in? They make a veggie chilli taste amazing.
I had a good day yesterday. Ended up with a couple of free hours so I made soda bread and hummus and pottered around. Did end up scarfing down most of the bread so didn't have a proper dinner.
It was NSD1.
Spoke to my Mum on the phone.
Had a bit of a panic in the evening when laptop suddenly stopped connecting to the wifi, struggled for an hour to solve it, bf came home, looked at it a specific way and it was fixed. It is rather old and hopefully it will hold on to life for at least one more year.
Grateful for laptop working, for a couple of really nice classes yesterday and for not starting work until 11 today!

Oh my god apple as I was posting that… I just realised I never cooked the blinking chickpeas for the hummus!! I’ve been eating raw chickpea hummus!!
I can only assume that my brain was imagining I was using the cooked ones from the jar as I normally do! Whats weird is that I thought it tasted ok. haha. So much for reducing waste. Neither of us have sore tummies this morning but OOPSIE!!!

Much better today. Got up early. I didn’t really have much of a choice since someone started digging up the road at 7.00am to lay some sort of cable. Himself managed to sleep for another two hours. Goodness knows how!
Pension day tomorrow so I’ve done the budget. Rent increase, gas increase and probably council tax next month as well. Not unexpected and the pension increase in April should just about cover it. I’m surprised electricity has stayed the same.
So we did get a walk though curtailed by the arrival of heavy rain. Collected prescriptions from the pharmacy which was a bit taxing because of some kind of mix up but hopefully sorted. The lane seems to have been cleared. Not perfect but what a difference. I’ll keep our part clean and tidy now but can’t vouch for further up.
More plants arrived but a bit too cold now to plant them up. I’ll do it tomorrow.
All in all not too bad a day.
I can never think of gratitudes because basically I’m grateful for everything.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
@Shrewbie - you don't cook the chickpeas when you make falafel, so fret ye not, raw or sprouted chickpea hummus is a real thing, you won't wake up with a shiny black moustache.Just got home from volunteering, so will claim my NSD2. Sent DH to bed practically on arrival, as the man is a total mess after his night #2 of no sleep. Mine was rubbish, but better than his, and I got up 2 hours earlier than him so I was not chasing sleep while the muppets outside felt the need to yell down the road at each other. Bit unreasonable really.Anxiety levels through the roof today - just a feeling of underlying tenseness. I will feel better once the school run becomes a regular thing and I have not left anyone behind by mistake. That is my major fear, that I leave someone behind, or forget them, which is daft as they all have mobile phones and would ring me if I had abandoned them.I may be a control freak (shhh! don't tell anyone). Anyway NSD2 in the bag.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Apple. I’m reading a John Le Carre. Does that mean I can have a mac, dark glasses and one of those cool hats? Or maybe a Mata Hari outfit? No, maybe not😊Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5

Evening all, forgot to post yesterday but had a shopping delivery, all fine and nicely stocked up for the next couple of weeks. As it was a spend day I also ordered two new kitchen cabinet doors for under the sink (current ones are warped - the kitchen is probably 20+ years old, would replace it but want to move next year so just replacing the doors that need replacing instead). I budgeted £150 and it only cost £50! Bonus! Also bought some more resistance bands to help vary my workouts.
Today is a NSD, put a sweet potato, chickpea and coconut curry in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. House smells cabbagey but the curry is so yummy! Also made a protein cake from a recipe book my mum gave me. Tastes yummy but a bit dry because the oven cooked the outside but not the inside so had to leave it in longer and it dried out. But for a first attempt it's pretty good! The oven is pretty knackered lol.
Grateful for a nice walk this morning, tasty food, and the glass of wine I'm currently enjoying in the bath7 -

Re-set your thinking. hmmm - let's just say I'm hoping to get into better habits once schools are back!
Offload your excess baggage – 1 item given away, 1 broken stool binned (but we have a spare!)
Eat well – see point 1!!
Rest well too – passable sleep last night - yeay!
Cherish each day and tell us of at least 3 gratitudes for it. - better sleep last night, for doing a spreadsheet and realising we are better off than I realised (shh - don't tell DH - he'll want to spend it on something frivolous like a new car - I'm looking at house repairs and maybe him retiring a year or 2 early instead!), for using up some lingering food items
, for getting rid of something to someone who needed it
Out and about. - not been out of the house today other than to get the bins back up from bottom of drive!
Aim for 17 NSDs. 2/17
Extend a hand to others – gave away old school trousers via fbook - another thing gone and someone can make use

NSD 1/17. Did over an hour in the yard this morning. Food arrived at the start of the delivery time. Paused to eat and rest (re-watching Teachers from the beginning) then went back out for maybe another hour. Just moving stuff about basically but that is what needs to happen - clear a space to work in, dig out the bed along the back fence, sort stones/ soil and water into different categories then put stuff back properly. Layer of stones level with existing flags, put in/ build the raised beds, put soil in containers (and chicken manure), plant up. Today I have moved 7 x 40 litre containers - one was an old kitchen bin so 65+ litres, gathered water from here, there and everywhere and filled 31 x 2 litre bottles (all currently in the trolley but will be moved to behind the shed), moved as many loose stones as possible with my feet, filled 3 small buckets with those and went over much of the bed using a garden fork to loosen the soil. Then it started to rain so gathered up washing from the line and came in.
Collecting my glasses tomorrow and will do several tasks in town including another big bag of seed compost - many of my seeds are becoming triffid like so need to fill some big yoghurt pots and move them on.
Today I am grateful for getting things done (only went out to see if I could do something / anything so well pleased with progress), for easy food (needed something quick, simple and filling when I stopped work), for finding the information I needed to pass on to DS3 - mum asked me to 'find her' 3 red and 3 green sequins so opened footstool and handed her the box (chocolate tub filled with mini jam jars and sequins separated out by colour) but my accounts book was in there too - may have used it as a work surface when making penguins and snowflakes before festive holiday, so information sent.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7
