NSD No 2
I managed to get up 15 minutes earlier than I did yesterday and went to bed a little later las night. Aiming to start getting up between 7.00am and 7.30am and go to bed around 10.00pm.
Did a bit of impromptu child care this morning. Only 15 minutes or so. Mum had to take the little one to school but the bigger one was due for an online lesson whilst she was taking her. Normally Dad is there but he had something else on today so she knocked on the door and asked if I could do her a big favour. No problem. Watching the online lesson was fascinating. Once again I am full of admiration for the teachers and parents who are coping with home schooling in these weird times.
After that Himself and I went for a walk. A bit further than yesterday but not too far. I remember being on holiday Paris in January last year and because of the transport strikes we were walking 15 miles every day without a thought. Just goes to show how unfit I am but onwards and upwards another bit further tomorrow. It was cold but so good to get out in the fresh air.
Had a corned beef and tomato toastie for lunch and having some haggis and neeps (frozen leftovers) with baked potatoes tonight.
Thinking about planning for the rest of the year. Friends are desperate for us to book our annual holiday in December but I'm a bit reluctant still. I would prefer to wait till after summer and see how things pan out after the universities go back. We have had our last two holidays not exactly spoiled but definitely altered by sudden changes in the rules. I have to arrange for the Boy to drive Himself and I as we (and he) don't want to go on public transport and if accommodation costs a bit more then so be it. What do you think, Turtles? Am I being a bit too cautious or am I being realistic in that we still don't know what is going to happen?
Did watch a bit of TV this afternoon but not the same old repeats. A programme which Himself had recorded about the artist Francis Bacon. Very interesting. I must confess I knew very little about him or his art. Quite a dark, sad and disturbing story. Getting on with my book reading so a bit more tonight.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Re-set your thinking. - snacked on broccoli and roast chicken today
Also have spent less time playing mindless games
Offload your excess baggage – 1 small flebay parcel out today
Eat well – lean bacon medallion and a huge pile of mushrooms for breakfast, falafels, lots of salad, broccoli, sweetcorn, roasted peppers, small bit of couscous and poon of houmous for lunch. Afternoon snack of some broccoli and leftover roast chicken scraps. Dinner = chicken, broccoli, mushrooms and maybe another veg. Made stock with Sunday's chicken carcass.
Rest well too – slept poorly last night - I think it's because DD had to get up early today.
Cherish each day and tell us of at least 3 gratitudes for it. - 2 walks where I squirrel watched today, using up leftovers for lunches and dinners tonight
Out and about. -2 x 30min walks today for fresh air
Aim for 17 NSDs. 1/17 - nothing spent online or in a 'real' shop today

I've had a day on the roller coaster. I was awake in the early hours brushed my teeth again and had a throat lozenge and wasn't going to lie down and put my mask on until it was gone. Mum's breathing got really bad and I went to check on her. Think she went into panic mode - struggling to breathe and fighting it was making things worse. She ended up sitting up in the armchair for the rest of the night and it was a while before I dared go back to sleep. have done a couple of 'worst case' scenarios this morning.
Was disappointed not to hear from the optician and got in a tizzy over what I should do in what order. Should I order food (checked last night and they still had slots for today and tomorrow, less on Thursday then Friday and Saturday nearly fully booked) /should I expect to go to the opticians (+ assorted other jobs whilst I'm in town)/ what if the food comes when I'm at the optician's. In the end I spent some time checking bus services to each of my top 3 venues (going with Sportcity) and then going through the booking process. Got to the end and one of the slots I'd requested had been taken whilst I was filling in the form. Could I fix that bit and keep the rest of my info - no, had to start from the beginning and re-enter everything. Think I will have a taxi there and make my own way back to the city centre, then home but might leave extra cash in the taxi office in case I feel unwell and want someone to come for me (ex OH was reporting that lots of health care workers near him had problems after their second dose). So two pages of bus info (two were basically the same buses at different times) and more info on appointments, what to do (arrival, during the appointment, if you have to cancel) etc
Had some food and then went out digging/ stone shifting. Told mum where I would be if the optician phoned. Well I was struggling and must have overdone it because I have killed my painting pants (ancient joggers of many greys and sundry paint splashes with a tight knot at the waist which is now too big, so risk of sudden plummeting if I move the wrong way. After that I decided to give up for today. Put the bin out. Spent the afternoon sewing and watching more of Unforgotten. Had rice pudding for tea as didn't feel too good. Used the manual opener and it left a tiny attached piece at each side. Got a knife to prise it open and got rice pudding splatter all over my face. I've set up mum's serial and am back on the bed.
On the subject of doing things to make life better later, yesterday I coollected blood forms for us both - mum should have them done in 2 - 3 weeks, don't need mine for about four months but we were only round the corner from out surgery (all within the same building) and it's one less thing to worry about later - just phone to make the blood appointment when we want.
Today I am grateful for having booked my appointments, for the Clash 'I Fought the Law' and getting something done - only a bit but that bit less still to do (even if my shoulders are aching again). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -
Evening all, stressful day at work today, I really struggled to get going and spent about 30 minutes just looking at the screen and then wasted another 30 minutes looking for another job haha.
Did some annual leave calculations and actually probably don't need to buy more based on what I think I'll use so I think I'll leave it.
Not much else to report today other than my first NSD. Grateful for a cheeky wispa bar with my lunch (my only indulgence), sunshine and my back continuing to be good!7 -
NSD no.1 today. Found more old paperwork that needed to be torn up and put into the recycling bin. Put 2 items aside to be given to a cs when they open.

Hi everyone
I have had NSDs yesterday and today. Woke up really early so caught up on PT role then drove part way and walked the rest to the mail office to pick up DD1's phone; she has been waiting a month and we thought it had got lost. Met her after work to pass it onto her as her old one doesn't work properly and she has a long drive to work so needs a reliable phone.
gratitudes - finally managing to sort DD1's phone out ; friendly man on the phone from BGaz even though he has rearranged my appointment for the 4th time!!!; early finish at work
