NST March 2021: a turtle rollercoaster

Hi there
Count me in please for March.
A few personal goal for me for March include:
Read every day (audio books allowed). I have recently joined a book group to help me get on track and add some socialising (by Zoom).
My charity donation for March will be to the local food bank.
Watch my grocery spend and try to come in under budget. I have loads of food in the Brexit/Covid cupboard! I am always torn between spending less and being prepared.
Reduce waste. I have started having a milk delivery to get rid of tetra packs. So happy they are now doing oat milk in resusable glass bottles (even if they do cost a bit more).
Plant some seeds. I like this one and would love to get into gardening. Last year I bought seeds and compost but then didn't get around to planting anythingMight do some planning around this later today.
Start exercising. i have a tendency not to do deliberate exercise and have been more inactive the past 12 months, I will aim for at least 12 sessions of something during March and keep a record. I am not going to promise to exercise daily because it won't happen - one step at a time.
17 NSD.
Loose half a stone.
Phone a friend for a chat every weekend. It is just me and DS(14) with weekly visits from his Dad (we are in a support bubble). I am working from home and it can feel quite isolating (although I do like WFH).
Continue chipping away at little jobs. Yesterday I rearranged my kitchen cupboards (after 10 years) to an arrangement which seems much more sensible and cleaned out some drawers. Very satisfying.
Happy March to everyone. I am feeling quite positive today as the sun is shining and spring is on the way'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'8 -
Much as I hate rollercoasters (even the ones aimed at toddlers have me closing my eyes tightly and feeling nauseous) I'm in for the ride
Re-set your thinking. Have a look at your habits – those things you do automatically, without thinking about it. - Have got back into snacking habit - and too much time spent playing mindless computer games
Offload your excess baggage – ongoing decluttering of items, as ever, here at greent towers
Listen to people carefully - admit I am rubbish at this and often jump in far too quickly...
Learn something new, or do something you haven’t done in a while - will give this some thought
Eat well – back on a healthier March, as opposed to a fattening February... have been using things up and will also send DS1 back to uni with some things which are hanging around
Rest well too – sleep pattern will improve when kids back at school. Better weather = more walks/ fresh air - as does gardening.
Cherish each day and tell us of at least 3 gratitudes for it. - yep
Out and about. - more walks and gardening are on the agenda
- good for mind, body and soul
Aim for 17 NSDs.
Sow some seeds. Have sorted through my seed tin today and put them in order. Plan to sow some either next Sunday or the following weekend. Have potatoes chitting on windowsill.
Think about and ponder the year ahead. - I think a review of things as there has been so much change is a 'Good Thing'
Extend a hand to others – will donate to foodbank and continue to collect things ready for CS in April (when I will also be donating time)
I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205 -
Have set my budget for each category that I have.
Re-set your thinking. - Want to cut back on time spent on social media.
Offload your excess baggage – Will watch what I bring into the flat. See what I can declutter, as I have already decluttered quite a bit over the years.
Listen to people carefully and make them feel appreciated by doing so. – This is something I have to improve.
Learn something new, or do something you haven’t done in a while. – Will try and do more baking.
Eat well – Will have to try and eat more veg and fruit.
Rest well too – get enough sleep, enough fresh air, enough activities that nourish your soul. The clocks change this month, so don’t forget. – This I will definitely have to look into improving as it will help with my mental health.
Cherish – Will try.
Out and about. - Will try my best depending on timings and how I am feeling.
Aim for 17 NSDs –Yes will do.
Sow some seeds. Want to keep on meditation each day and to spend more time reading. Will look at other activities which will help with my mental health.
Think about and ponder the year ahead. Yes, it isn’t necessarily the ‘traditional’ time to do this, but the rules and regs change regularly so a re-think of plans and ponderations is always useful. – Will look into as to what I want to achieve for the rest of year.
Extend a hand to others – Will look to see what I can do.
Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20132 -
Re-set your thinking. I have put my alarm back to 6am. I get more done and think clearer than if I get up later. I am most productive in the 2 or 3 hours before anyone else is about. Everyone else is in love with their duvet.
Offload - that is a hard one. I can't offload the old people, but I can try and be more understanding of their oddness.
I also have a fabric stash that needs turning into something useful
Listen to people carefully and make them feel appreciated. I am rubbish at this. I will try very hard.
Learn something new, - might apply for a job that is going. Also fancy learning to make patchwork.
Eat well – I have a glut of bbq sauce that needs using up - bbq veg wraps and salad on the menu once a week. Also have weight to lose.
Rest – school run will recommence, nowhere to go, not much to do, will restart running.
Cherish each day - 15 days of school until Easter Holidays! Easter Holidays start this month!
Out and about. Will try and explore more places locally.
Aim for 17 NSDs.
Sow some seeds. Refound my seed stash this weekend. Made 4 new planters out of scrap wood. I love pea shoots!
Think about the year ahead. . What will happen will happen, can't make plans, everything is too uncertain, kids might be in school during the holidays. Ireland still only has 2% fully vaccinated. Will have no kids in primary school, might have one at University, might have 2 retaking GCSE/Alevels - I will not borrow trouble. My very precise plan is to wing-it.
Extend a hand - already volunteer but will add another charity to donate to monthly.
Rules - -put £5 aside and treat yourself in the last week of the month. - post daily.

Hi I am thinking of joining but not sure I 100% understand the thread
. More about mental health/winning at life rather than money saving? I'm looking for an active thread that I can post on every day and will inspire me to save and earn. However many of your 'roller coaster' words are things I try and do or would like to do more e.g. practicing gratitude.

Re-set your thinking. I MUST go to bed earlier. Before Midnight.
Offload your excess baggage - Clean house from top to bottom by the end of the month. I am going to limit contact with !!!!!!. He isn't for me unfortunately.
Listen to people carefully and make them feel appreciated by doing so. - My students. I must do my best to help them this month.
Learn something new, or do something you haven’t done in a while - Yoga, not done it for a year.
Eat well – Managed pretty well in Feb, Must add veg to every meal.
Rest well too, As above bed before midnight.
Cherish each day and tell us of at least 3 gratitudes for it. - Must get into the habit of this.
Out and about. I am going to work on the garden this month so I will be out there and will keep up the walking, even tho I am bored of it.
Aim for 17 NSDs. I suck at this. My Amazon habit is BAD. Click click click.
Sow some seeds. Garden as above and am going to sign up for a Tefl course.
Think about and ponder the year ahead. I REALLY want a house. I need to maintain focus on saving.
Extend a hand to others – foodbanks, shelters, charities. - yep, I intend to do this.
March is about - Yoga, vegetables, gardening, moving on, clearing out, learning new stuff. Spring is coming.
