NST March 2021: a turtle rollercoaster

Went to town to collect my new glasses. Sorted everything for the window cleaner's visit beforehand (gate unlocked and pinned back so he doesn't touch it, money in a jar, everywhere he needs to get to free of obstacles). Went a bit early and picked up cash, checked both bank balances (my internet banking is not co-operating atm), bought a meal deal and called in at the bus station news kiosk to buy my puzzle book + one of the large print ones
avoided the tempting sweets at the other shop. Also read a notice - prefer people to pay by prepaid app or contactless on the bus, can pay by cash but correct money only - no change given.
Went to optician's, quick call in the community shop to buy more of the chilli lime snacks (didn't want to buy much as I was nearing my weight limit) and sat in my yard to retie a shoelace. Did knock but DS3 must not have been awake. Then on to Wilco's. Called in the zero waste shop to buy local honey, good chat with the couple there (both from film club). Wilco's did not have a trolley (they only have a couple) so put my two bags into one wheeled basket and two empty stacked ones in the other hand. Bought compost (20 l was on offer, 25% extra free and 2 x 25 l was much easier than 1 x 50 l), border spade and yard brush to replace the broken ones, more of the wallpapering plastic gloves (much easier to put on mum's hands when we are going out), new groundsheet (in case the taxi driver was fussy about his car boot), replacement gardening and builder's gloves (I do a lot of heavy work) and little sticky pads for mum's card-making and a small plant for Mother's Day (will need a bit of tlc). I had nearly finished when someone phoned from the doctor's surgery to offer me my vaccination at the sport's centre (where mum went), so after a brief discussion I've accepted it and now need to cancel the others.
Long wait in a long queue. Assistant asked if I and the man behind me were together (she was trying to get those paying by card to use the self- service tills). I looked at the man behind me holding 3 items in his hands, then down at my 3 pull along baskets, bristling with spades, brushes and compost and said that if we had been together, I would be divorcing him. Taxi home, I have eaten, used one bag of compost (mixed with the rather sodden coir compost and filled 18 large yoghurt pots, 6 large mushroom boxes and 5 small) and am now on my bed and not inclined to do anything else at all. Mum said if she had known I was going 'all round town' I could have bought the new bathmat - I checked but W only had a square shower mat. When I booked my vaccinations she asked if I would be 'wandering back through Manchester' and then told me i could pick up the cutters she wants from Lakeland (shop wouldn't even be open but it's at the Trafford Centre - just meander on and off two extra buses for a totally non-essential purchase and ensure I hit the after school bus station bustle, yes mum).
Today I am grateful for getting all the things I most needed (there might have been others but could not go any further with one basket in front and 2 behind (3 didn't fit going round the ends of the aisles), for chocolate and chilli lime snacks, for my new glasses, for being able to sit on one of my favourite benches - it looks like the new archive centre is finally near completion (after about 2 years), two men were working on the part of the car park that has been a builder's yard during the work and the scaffolding/ enclosure around the front of the Town Hall has been released and the benches have been put back in place. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

My "digging up the road" alarm clock woke me up early again.
Himself was waiting for a delivery of some sort so we didn't get a walk but I have spent some time outside in the fresh air planting up my new conifers and having a general tidy up. Had a chat with my next door neighbour. A lovely lady but just a bit fragile and needs a little bit of people watching out for her. She always admires my plants so I said I'll pot some things up for her again this year. Her sunflowers actually did better than mine last year.
So since we weren't out I've caught up on some household chores. Lots to do though but I'll get round to it.
Did another bit of emergency child care today. The wee ones parents wanted to go to a pavement line up for the funeral of a friend who passed away last week and obviously they didn't want to take her with them. We really enjoy looking after her and it's been three weeks since my jab and almost three since Himself had his so safe as can be at the moment.
Congratulations on the medal, Kerry Woman. If I'm not being to nosey do you originally come from Kerry? It's a beautiful part of the world and such lovely friendly, kind people.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5 -

No housework done today- but I can add an extra 15 minutes tomorrow to "catch up".

Grateful today- for resolving a problem, a productive day at work, plenty of fresh air with DD.

Today I am grateful for my negative covid test at work, for catching up briefly with a few people there, for good coffee, for the parking being free when I went to Icyland, for managing my 2nd session of power yoga this morning, for finally sorting through a pile of files I brought home 3 months ago (the least of my hoarding/not sorting out tendancies!!!)

Yesterday was NSD 3/17. Today is weekly grocery delivery.
And since it’s a spend day I’m going to use it to buy a card for FIL’s birthday which is in a couple of weeks.
It sounds like lockdown may be eased enough that we will be able to meet FIL outdoors this year. We missed his birthday last year because of it.
Thanks for the advice @f0xh0les. Unfortunately the thorn bush is in a narrow ditch and I can’t get to it’s base to cut it. I poured 10kg of rock salt on it from above. Don’t know how effective it will be but I’ll keep a check on it.
Did some decluttering yesterday. My three bags are now completely full but I can’t take them where they need to go until this lockdown eases.
Grateful for waking up naturally and to birdsong, tea in bed, an email telling me Sainberries has everything I ordered.
