NST March 2021: a turtle rollercoaster

Still on NSD 10/17. Today is grocery delivery day.
Slightly annoyed at myself for not collecting nectar points on my weekly shops for the last 2 years. It takes only a couple of our regular weekly grocery shops to get about £2.50 in vouchers. I just use them against another grocery order.
As planned, yesterday I picked up DS’s birthday present and bought a birthday card and balloons. I was keen to use paper decorations rather than balloons but there weren’t many options with most shops shut. It’s a pack of 15 but I’ll ration them: 4 this year for his 4th birthday, 5 next year, and 6 the following year 😂I also ordered OH’s birthday presents from myself and DS. OH can get a kiss instead of a card! And I am making him a Nigella chocolate cake at his request. I am not a baker by any stretch, but I made this cake for him a few years ago and it was delicious.
I have just done our end of week bank accounts sweep. Underspends in food and leisure budgets totally £21. Into the savings they go.
Grateful for grocery deliveries, the short lighthearted chat I had with the delivery driver, science and the Covid vaccine.

I had another little walk today. Just as far as the local shop to buy milk and bread (much fresher and a longer sell by date than the supermarket) and some eggs and hand made sausages from the butcher. Made a curry for the Boy to take home tomorrow and used my last jar a my favourite curry sauce so I've ordered more online. More expensive than the supermarket but it is SO good.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7

Today will be an NSD!! NSD12 for me. Not left the house - but I have noticed there are a heck of a lot of people walking about the streets. I don't care what the red-tops are saying, it is not 'Freedom Week' next week. It is irresponsible nonsense.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I've had a spendy day. Finally went to town at 4 pm. Very few people about, mainly small groups of teenagers. Bought my puzzle mag (subscription seems to have not gone through so have ordered myself 3 books - subscription was part of my festive gift money so I get that money back). Included mag(s) and used my £5 treat allowance (2nd mag is the large print one which seems seasonal rather than monthly). Came home (back to mum's) and have done a small food order to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. Earlier in the day I went through the fridge and freezer, put together a meal plan (cooking plan really) and jotted down items for the food shop. Have also done a small order with random non food items including screen wipes (coughing so much and looks disgraceful) and new shower mats (because I've ruined the others by 'washing them too much'). Think it is the material they are made of - one of those that's fine for so long then goes 'brittle' - they've done at least 3 years. May put in the other small food order (Icyland one - they have legs of lamb and cross buns - Easter sorted). They don't do decaff coke so other order was needed but can postpone bigger Tessimo order until at least next weekend. Saves wasting another NSD.
Tried to check the front room light bulbs (we had a visitor on Friday who set the alarm off - it's definitely faulty). When mum came to turn on the lights last night it wouldn't switch on - used led storm lantern and candles instead. I wanted to check if any of the light bulbs had gone (alarm set off again) but mum says she will continue with available lights (think the alarm was driving her crazy on Friday) rather than deal with nasty alarm (it doesn't actually do anything other than go off every time there is a power cut, even a couple of seconds ones - think they were installed when the houses were built, ditto the under eaves lights). Washing was done and line dried.
Today I am grateful for the trip to town (we had a murder yesterday - on the canal bank between the bridge and the steps at the top of mum's street). A young man had been arrested but was released today and three teenagers were arrested (only know this because of the taxi drivers). Sorry grateful for the trip to town - not terribly exciting but just good to be out on my own and lots of available benches to sit on, bank balance is not quite where I wanted it to be but was better than I thought (internet banking a bit hit and miss atm so was worried). Easy food (have cooked nearly full bags of frozen broccoli and cauli but settled for tuna and bean salad on wraps). Will carry on tomorrow - nearly 3/4 of a pot of natural yoghurt past it's sell by date so will do tandoori chicken lumps to freeze at same time as cooking chicken dinner. Will put baked potatoes in the bottom of the oven and mash any that are left (new sack coming tomorrow but have also ordered a sonic rat repellent so hoping to get some of the food back to being stored in the shed). Plan for the week is purposeful plodding (trying not to think about all the things that 'need' doing as I will go into freefall panic and not get anything done). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

Afternoon all
Didn't post yesterday as had a migraine all day so the whole day was a bit of a write off. Did buy some new pads for my TENS machine (very much needed with my back!), planned to go and get some eggs but didn't in the end because of my migraine so went to do that this morning instead. A few extras may have ended up in the basket - oops! I find I need sugary things after a migraine and I don't generally keep them in the house so yeah, those got bought and I don't care!!
So all in all, the weekend has been a bit of a write off, nothing achieved and no NSD's, but sometimes these things happen. And at least I didn't have work.5 -
NSD 13. Nothing has been achieved, well, there are 3 apple and plum crumbles in the oven cooking away happily, and I will make a tray of mice pies because I love them, and I found a jar of micemeat in the pantry hidden behind a box of teabags (my pantry loves me and gives me surprise gifts every now and then). Have a lovely Sunday.

Very quiet Sunday here, Mrporridge has been knocked out by his jab yesterday so all we've done is the shopping. We've come in under budget for groceries this month so some more money has made its way into the mortgage and the saving pots. I made a sourdough today that is probably the best so far, I've struggled to get the open texture right and this one has worked , I thought I'd overprooved it but that might be the trick. Now use reading through diaries etc with a furry companion at my side.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020
