NST March 2021: a turtle rollercoaster
Comments
-
Morning Turtles, I have been very busy with boiler and leak repairs. Quite a challenge when you are working from home, but have been able to not take a day off work, and it's nearly there now. It's been a week where I am glad that I rent! Smashed my iPad though. 😩
I thought I would do a mid-month review of the month, so here goes....
Re-set your thinking. Have a look at your habits – Glad to have made a change on my beauty spending habits this month (having gone cold Turkey for quite a while).
Offload your excess baggage – essay written...quite a challenge, but its gone looking, have cleared out the outside cupboard, and still planning on looking at the top 2 drawers of my dressing table for a clear out.
Listen to people carefully and make them feel appreciated by doing so - Listening carefully is part of what I do for a living. I am going to show people I appreciate them by doing that, but also in other ways...too. Not quite sure yet how though. So I think I have been doing this with my partner, but actually more myself. 😇
Learn something new, or do something you haven’t done in a while - I will make one garment from start to finish. Its over a year since I did that. - on the plan list for this weekend. 🪡
Eat well – on track!
Rest well too – Sleep can be a problem for me, I will do my best. I think I rest a bit too much, and don't do enough or sleep enough. ....I have been doing more, and I think it is helping with the sleep.
Cherish - I'm in!
Out and about. ... I really would like to get out at least 5 days a week....hmm, not doing so well, glad I reviewed this, but was out yesterday and will be today. I am working long hours with getting used to the new job.
Aim for 17 NSDs. - feeling a bit behind 9/17
Sow some seeds. Well, I am definitely studying and practicing yoga and meditation. But would like to sow a few seeds in my pots....yesterday I sorted out my pots outside the front of the flat, need a bag of compost and have some seed that I got for free so am going to sew them.
Think about and ponder the year ahead. Have been pondering the year, and beyond, practicing listening to myself and appreciating what my needs are. There have been some shifts in my thinking. 😎
Extend a hand to others – I will do one foodbank donation, and one Beautybank donation. - still to do
Rules:
-the rollercoaster ride lasts for the month of March, all 31 days of it.
-set your budget before the month starts - gotta know what you're aiming for! - Done
-put £5 aside and treat yourself in the last week of the month. What can you get for your money? - Lovely....I will ponder, maybe nail varnish.
Gratitudes:
- sunshine
- a boiler that works well
- making the most of the time it was not nice to be in the flat by sorting the outside cupboard, plant plots and having a clean of the area. Looks so much nicer.
@apple_muncher hope all is well now.

Dr Carrie great idea mid month review, seeing as I didn't do one at the beginning of the month, here is mine.
Re-set your thinking. Have a look at your habits – Why do I buy or eat chocolate daily? Must stop. Drinking way too much tea atm as well no wonder I am tired all the time.
Offload your excess baggage – Clear out was going well few tip runs beginning of month but so difficult with bathroom being fitted even to get upstairs, de cluttering on hold until next week. After I attack all the dust everywhere. One annoying person having minimum contact with, can't ignore lives nearby unfortunately. I am polite but thats it.
Listen to people carefully and make them feel appreciated by doing so - Seem to be agony Aunt lately, friends not coping with lockdown, house buying, chatted to them hopefully helped with a few problems.
Learn something new, or do something you haven’t done in a while - Need to update my accounting skills as I may need to job hunt plus something fun would be good.
Eat well – hold on sweet snacks and increase fish/ veggies in my diet. Portion control is needed!
Rest well too – Not going to well, think overtired might have day off tomorrow, tiler not working then. So house to myself and might get some time to chill out as sleep patterns are awful as I am a stress head, been worrying about work and work at home going on.
Cherish - ok with this.
Out and about. ... Not done my usual walks, clean up operation at home each evening and having to go to dd for showers eats into my free time. Need to do something for myself.
Aim for 17 NSDs. - 9/17 NSD including today.
Sow some seeds Found some Parsley and some other herbs will do later.
Think about and ponder the year ahead. Hopefully keep in work now until December, need to update my skills and escape the house, locally not planning any trips as yet.
Extend a hand to others – Will start showing my face on Sundays for a few hours to a local food charity. Havent been in a while.
Grateful for
Booking all materials through work for my house. Will work out cheaper.
Appointment for Covid Jab on Monday
Still eating roast beef butties following roast on Sunday.

NSD No 13
Busy today. Gas safety check tomorrow so kitchen and bathroom thoroughly cleaned and the cupboards emptied so the engineer can get into the boiler and meter. I must confess I am now absolutely shattered and it's all got to be put back where it belongs tomorrow. Still better safe than sorry.
Just having a little rest now than watching Inspector Morse and making dinner.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.4 -
calling- I've started eating most of my main meals in a "pasta bowl" as it's a smaller diameter than my dinner plates its reduced how much pasta/rice etc I'm putting on my plate.
Wednesday- NSD 12 - but it shouldn't have been- made a drastic error and forgot to buy milk when I was out so I'm on reduced tea rations for the evening to be sure I leave enough for breakfast 🤣.
Other than that, today has been great- DD was at school and I was off and I have got loads done. Been for a run, ridden my pony, made curry for tea (with 2 dinners for each of us ready for the freezer), washing is up to date, kitchen was tidy (until I made the curry), a box has been emptied, a load of paperwork ready to take to work to shred and a bit of online investigating done to help out a friend. Ready to collapse soon but have an online meeting first.
Grateful today for a faster run, a lovely ride and time to get stuff done (and having the enthusiasm to do it at the same time).

Evening all, no NSD here but all spends planned. Paid my credit card bill, made a huge dent this month! Also bought a new to me but secondhand dressing gown as mine has well and truly seen better days. And bought some veg too.
Went to see my share pony at lunchtime for a bit of a break, got absolutely soaked but I needed it, been a stressful one at work and have only just logged off.6 -
Toni'sfriend - I thought you were watching Inspector Morse make dinner!!!Thank you everyone - dd is still suffering with waves of lingering pain, but they aren't peaking at the same intensity as at the start. Last night was rough, but she has had a mellow day.Today I am grateful for being able to go to work and leave dh with dd, for a good TAGS planning meeting, for not getting caught in the rain, for a kid who I mentor bounding up to me to tell me he has his army interview tomorrow and he is just sooo excited and positive about it, for a catch up with a neighbour when I knocked to pick her brains about something that might be useful for another friend.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

Done an hour and a quarter digging out the back bed (without standing up). Used a shovel, a trowel and my 'garden claw' gloves and large clods were thrown into the builders' bag. Very happy not to pitch forward into the stuff I was digging. Empty plastic bottles rounded up. Also went round to look at the neighbour's side of the fence - don't want to dig down and then have the whole thing topple over on me.
Grateful for good food (using all the bits I prepared on Sunday), getting something done, no bad stomach pains like yesterday (think I made my stomach muscles work and they aren't used to it.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage5 -
I am reading along but not making any progress I am afraid. I think I might be allergic to the school runsome reason my stress levels are off the scale this week, still, only 7 more mornings to navigate until the hols. The kids are happy at school and have been told it is to be one week teaching and reinforcing, one week of tests in exam conditions, one week teaching etc. until they have covered all the work they should have been taught, and once these are over, then they will start to teach them the stuff on the curriculum that they did not get around to teaching but that they will be expected to know if they continue the subject further. It is good they have a plan.Gratitudes - all 9 covid tests have come back negative this week, for lists, for spring onions.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Morning Turtles,
10 NSD's now, feel like I have redressed the balance somewhat! I can spend every other day and meet the 17 NSD target, which should be doable.
Gratitudes for yesterday:
- I saw loved ones, it was at a funeral, but it was still really lovely to see people, one of which not seen for a year.
- My dad said he was going to book somewhere for lunch for my birthday in May.
- I am looking forward to a weekend to myself and no study!3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000

I have 12 Nsd days so far, but I fear I might go to those shops later, or can it wait til tomorrow? The fridge is pretty well full!
Back to some online training, I only have 1 out of 3 tests left before I loose my c3nsus job, a bit nerve wrecking - but have passed all of the other ones - so should be ok. Now that I am awake. Yep that did not go well. I am the queen of test - driving theory - first time, life in uk - first time - a test in how to fill in a time sheet - nope 3 fails. And I'm sure I failed on the same questions every time. I do hope their HR gives me a reset, otherwise I would like to do some feedback for the person who designed the training and the test. I've got 3 pages of notes! Sorry for rant. But I was just doing it for some catch up money for my E fund and new shoes but .... now I just don't know.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
