  • Thanks guys, I thought so, its just that I am advising someone else to follow what I am doing so I needed a little reassuarance
That is the laughable bit, they have already added £75 themselves to make it £175 per ticket with a threat that further costs will be added if I do not pay up now
They also end the letter with an advert for the TV show 'Cant pay? We'll take it away!'
    Absolutely Criminal..

    Hi folks -quick question

I'm in Scotland, getting letters from DCB(Limited - not legal) for UKPC for parking in a retail car park in Dundee.  They don't know who was driving.

I moved home in February - have a redirection in place - should I contact them to give my new address?

I'm concerned follow-up with court documents don't make it to me and I get an award against me by default.

You should inform the PPC via their DPO with a Data Rectification Notice that your new address for service is .......... and you require them to ERASE your old data and inform all of their agents.  The e-mail address of the DPO can usually be found on the PPC's privacy page.  Of course in that e-mail you do not mention the driver, you are the keeper!

Yes, contact the DPO and insist that the old address is erased.

  • Hi, I hope that someone can help, at the risk of no doubt repeating theirselves - there seems to be so much content on these posts I tend to get a bit lost in them.

I used to rent a flat in greater london. UKPC 'owned' the land around the flat and, despite having a parking permit for 3.5 years when living there, which I still have, there were 3 occasions in the three years that I was issues a ticket. Once when I moved in before the permit came and I guess the other two where I may have taken the permit out to give to my partner for her to park...

4 years on i've now received a series of letters over the past few months from DCBL the latest of which came individually through on friday saying 'Final notice of debt recovery'

If I continue to ignore how liklely is it that this will esculate. The main reason I'm asking is that it's 3 lots of £150 (£450 in total) is this enough to take me to court which is the last thing I need or want. If there is some chance this might happen then i'll get them paid... or should I fight it, despite possibly not having tickets on show at the time I still have the parking permit and proof of living at that address in the time they were issued

Really appreciate the help of people in the know.

Thanks - disgruntled recipient of letters

Exactly the effect they wanted!  It's just a debt collector letter from DCB Limited. Ignore it (the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, fourth post, tells you how to!).

If this went to court and you lost, the cost would be much less than they're asking. If you want to throw £450 away, let me know, I'll give you my address!

You only need to come back to the forum if you receive a Letter Before/Of Claim from DCB Legal (or SCS Law - the usual litigators for UKPC) or a court claim via the Northampton CCBC.

PS - UKPC never owned the land around your residence!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    No they didn't.

That would be stupid!  Yes there will be a court claim in the end and yes, you will likely win (and even if you lose you pay less because the added 'costs' are false double recovery) so why would ANYONE pay this inflated amount?

  • Thanks for the reply, it's appreciated... like all the newbies their is a certain amount of stress  associated with receiving these letters when they are on-going, especially when you feel they are 'unjust' but these companies don't want to know!

Fingers crossed it doesn't get to a stage where letters of Before/Of Claim are received...!!!

No, it will and you will get a claim unless you are in Scotland.

Read ahead, we win 99% of cases, so don't cross your fingers, be ready for the winning stage and if you move house make sure you tell UKPC and keep proof.  The last thing anyone wants is a secret CCJ to an old address when they move and assume no news is good news.
