DCBL letters ..... forum group thread
We are seeing a lot of debt collector letters from DCBL acting for UKPC.
DCBL are chasing old parking tickets and at the same time adding an unlawful amount
We do not want thread after thread on the same subject so those receiving these letters can join together and fully understand
THE NEWBIES THREAD is of course the first step to read. Thereafter use this group thread so we can contain everything here
Please understand these very important points
1: If the letter gives you 14 days to pay it is a debt collector letter which you can ignore
2: If the letter states "Letter before claim" which must give you 30 days to respond tell us and we will assist on your next step
3: All letters from DCBL mention "this case is not subject to high court of bailiff actions" ?
Of course it's not, it needs to go to county court first and for DCBL to win and even then the judge will say when the amount must be paid. Once paid as instructed there is NO CCJ and of course their will be no bailiffs. THIS IS JUST SCARE MONGERING HOPING YOU WILL PAY.
4: Will DCBL win chasing up old tickets ? Their chances are very low and when you win, you can claim costs. Consider this, with the sheer amount of these letters being sent, if they became court claims, it would block the court system for months, maybe years.
The letters are designed to scare, hoping people will will pay. Nobody can remember these old tickets and even a judge would not remember what he/she did years ago
DO NOT PAY ON RECEIPT OF A 14 DAY DEBT COLLECTOR LETTER regardless of what they say. NEVER MAKE CONTACT
DCBL letters demand a reply ... NOT TO DCBL but a SAR to UKPC to provide the information they hold on you. UKPC are legally obliged to reply

Why, I wonder, did DCBL employ loveable drug dealer Leroy. I would not wish to have him poking around my hice.

Maybe the Sun should pick up this story and warn the public of DCBL

I have received a 'letter of claim' from dcb Legal Ltd with 30 days to respond. The 30 days end on 8/2/21. There is a slip attached suggesting I 'request a copy of reply form and financial statement'. I'm not sure if this is the next step or not.

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, second post, which leads you, baby step by baby step, through the court process. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

This comment from the article sums it up nicely.
"Am I right that a former policeman turned debt collector has teamed-up with a struck-off solicitor, convicted of fraud to offer debt advice to consumers for free?"

Good afternoon all,
Hope everyone's doing great!
Happy to be back in this forum after a 5 year hiatus...
Why am I back? Well, I've come to possess a lovely little letter from DCBLimited for a PPC Notice that came as a late straggler after my post in May 2016 - to my new address!!
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5470683/ukpc-county-court-claim-defence-and-process/p1
After reading the NEWBIES Sticky (blast from the past), several other posts, and also seeing a few familiar faces (hey gang - I've missed you all, I've come across this post as well and it appears as though DCBL are blowing the dust off of old cases from UKPC, and a few other stand-up comedies (I mean companies...)
Just wanted to say I'll be following this post very carefully (specifically Very Important Point 1 above), and assisting/updating where I can.
@BeamerGuy - A quick query, I was initially confused with the ending of your post "DCBL letters demand a reply ... NOT TO DCBL but a SAR to UKPC to provide the information they hold on you. UKPC are legally obliged to reply", as I read this at first as DCBLimited, and not DCBLegal. (PIN number, ATM Machine, you get the drift...). Can you confirm which of these it applies to? Just something to distinguish for the newbies that come across this (as also likely to confuse future posts in the long-run).

Your earlier thread indicated that the Claim was discontinued - in October 2016.
Are you saying that that case has been resurrected, are you now telling us about a new case?
Please be clear... is that old thread of any relevance?3 -

As UKPC arranged the mail bomb then they must take a share coming back to them by way of a SAR. A SAR is time consuming and will no doubt will produce some woodworm3 -

The old thread was just a callback to the old case which was discontinued.
@beamerguy - thanks for the clarification. An SAR will be issued in due course! Good to see you again!3 -
