Late check in for me today. DD2 left this morning to go back to the West so yesterday afternoon was WM & TD and helping her pack up. She left this morning with her car absolutely full.
Bed made, clothes picked up
WM on
Have been out to test drive a new car with DH, not at all MSE but very nice. Now have to look at the offer as a whole and trade in etc. Buying new car now is part of the retirement strategy so that we will have a good condition, low mileage fully paid for car.
Ionafan thanks for online learning info, quite tempted to try something.
Need to sort out a click and collect order, it won't be a big shop but will mean I can pick up some pellets, the big benefit is they load them straight into the car for me.
Better make post lunch coffee before I settle down in front of the fire to watch the sailing on tv in a bit. It's grey and damp here, so I'm happy to have a lazy afternoon7 -
Squeak had a great time at the school assessment. She got to speak to the other year 6 children from her school who are in the other class and they won't let them talk together.Dots assessment has been changed to 12th feb 3:30... when I lose the email you lot have to remind me! lol.Twinkle has taken herself to bed !
OH is being sent out for apples, cucumber, prescriptions and parcel posting. I also have a couple of bids on ebeasty items .. £54 at the moment.
having a cuppa then banishing OH and will crack on with dinner when he gets back. I have a blob of gammon for tomorrow and chicken for today. OH got the chicken out of the freezer a few days ago so it definitely needs using today before it starts pecking people who open the fridge..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)6 -
Pigpen, glad school assesment went well.
Very lazy afternoon here
Busy day tomorrow as doing adult assesments all day and then my usual lesson in the evening. No prep to do for assesments but loads to write up afterwards.
Car booked in for service
Change in gas contract requested which should save us €€€. I did go out and check the level in out gas tank and we have used half what we usually use since we've had the pellet stoves which are much cheaper to run and give a nicer heat. Other benefit is downstairs really warm but upstairs bedrooms still quite cool which suits me fine

Hello all. I've been mostly busy with work, council stuff and revision so mainly just the dailies being done although today I did wipe some skirting boards.Spend less now, work less later.7

ROTFL at the chicken!
Received an email from my elec and gas provider today: "We need to increase your payments, but we are sending you a refund as your account is in credit." Crazy! The refund might be as much as £145, but the increase in payments is less than £4 pcm. Oh well, the money is better in my bank account with its stingy interest rate than in theirs which gives me nothing. QED MSE.

Hi all
Glad things are going well for Dot and Squeak Pigpen, you have so much going on, just hearing about it makes my head spin, much love and respect from me.
Busy day at the paid stuff, tired now. Not much flying done, but the house is not too bad. Exercise class done first thing, will try and do a little yoga before bed. Oh and there is some washing to put over the airer. Sticking to my mealplan too which I am pleased with.7 -
Well done, Squeak!
I could have written YL’s last post, but then realised that, no, I have never done an exercise class first thing... I have, however, stuck to the no-oven-required meal plan (the element has been despatched. Fingers crossed that that is the fault), and I have been taking inspiration from YL and trying to do a short yoga video in the evenings. I still have to find the exact Adriene one that I want, but I am enjoying trying out various ones in the meantime. I also signed up and started the mse course that Kaz mentioned.I have not, however, done any flying other than wm x2 and QHI! Priorities...7 -
Evening all
Busy at paid stuff but I’ve managed the dailies, laundry and a few flying jobs each evening to keep the house ticking over. Realised tonight that we were running short on a few things and needed a top up shop, so rather than go twice to the supermarket we rejigged the meal plan and extended it through to next week and DH went this evening. A simple supper has been cooked and munched and the kitchen reset for tomorrow.
Interesting talk about courses and things, I did my degree through the OU while also working full time, some years back now though, I loved it at the time and would like to do more, work though is so demanding generally that I’m not sure I would have the spare brain capacity to take on more...
Exercise is definitely the one thing I need to get better about doing, we do manage a walk most days but I should really try to do more, perhaps will do some research into some easy stuff to start with.
Hugs to all in need, back tomorrow x6 -
OH is VERY impressed with my freezer packing skills. I have skipped paying a couple of bills so I could fill them so that is what I have done.OH's employer have said if they are given FULL bank statements from all accounts held by the employee and their partner and their income is less than £2000 a month they will give them a 1 off payment of £200.. My daughter who works for them lives with her friend, shares bills etc and gets about £700 a month currently ... OH gets a bit more as he is on a higher wage due to age but that is for him and me and 5 dependents and so we get child benefit and tax credits too.. but obviously because there are 5 children, inc one in college, in total it is very slighty over the £2000 a month so we wouldn't get anything. I get nothing for myself, not a penny.. I know it isn't a lot of money but it seems a little unfair that the families are going to be less likely to get it and all the single people, the ones living with parents with no bills etc will get a payment. Is that a little about face or am I just splitting hairs?I wouldn't give them my bank statements anyway so it makes no difference either way to us, but we are not the only ones with dependents .. My accounts are insane for income/outgoings..and if minimum wage is the minimum someone can be expected to live on why are they only getting 80% of it?? It's just wrong!
Boogs friend has just started working.. a month in hand.. and they stopped his universal credit so he is not eating for days at a time.. so I have sorted him a huge bag of pasta and rice and some tinned bits and a bit of chicken and some cornflakes.. we don't have much but I can't let a young man go hungry. I can't bear to think of it! I might not have much but I can share what I do have. Boog can take that round tomorrow.
Other than that we've had the DW on and I cooked 2 different dinners.. gammon tomorrow and chicken and leek bake.. with new potatoes/pasta and salad/veg.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)7
