I also joined you in the WAC which then made it very difficult to get up when the alarm went at 6.30. Had a very long day at work yesterday doing evaluations and sorting out groups. No flying done. But today is a new day.
Decluttered my doctors appointment so am fit to get on with flying!
Bed made, clothes picked up
Shopping lists to be made next whilst I have coffee8 -
It was Rosie who got me into the WAC - I had gone to bed an hour earlier than usual, and was woken just after 3:00 from deep slumber by being pawed in the back and whined at. Made myself a decaff cuppa while I was downstairs, retired to bed with it, caught up with emails and FB (where I found round lurking - sorry I missed the rest of you) and went back to sleep at about 4.00 Of course Rosie is still snoring away, while I'm on my second cuppa of the day.
Today's plan:
- check finances
- do dailies
- phone the DR's about my medication review, and ring
- make and write cards: lots of them, as the majority of the Old Wives' birthdays fall in Feb or March
- write up the freezer contents on the new whiteboard in the kitchen
- get rid of a crate of winter car stuff that DH has left out on the floor in the utility for at least 12 months: it can go in the car in a big shopping bag behind the driver's seat (his excuse is that Rosie's crate takes up all the room in the boot area) or I'll clear space for everything in the low-level cupboard in the utility or the tool cupboard in the back porch; I might have to crawl into the hard-to-reach loft space behind my bed to find a different size of plastic crate to fit
- file away some more ancestors: yesterday I found my 5xgt-grandfather's very neat signature on the digitised marriage licence application for his first marriage in 1768 - such excitement!
Hope everyone has a good Friday xx7 -

pigpen said:Narco.. Is there anywhere you know of does an online (preferably free!) dyslexia testing for my 18 year old? College are fobbing me off with 'it's a long wait list' .. but as you know I am skint myself savng for Dots assessment and another £500-700 for Moomins would kill me off I think. I looked at THIS SITE ... but I'm not sure it is properly recognised. Can you offer any guidance?
- the one you marked is a screening test which is generally considered useful for flagging up that someone needs a fuller diagnostic assessment. They may well have made improvements to it but much of what I and other assessors do is not just getting people's actual scores on "tests" but we are trained to observe how they go about working/problem solving etc and clearly this is something a self-screener won't do. I would be fairly surprised if a college or professional exam body accepted it as sufficient evidence to give extra time, funding etc but although there is usually reasonable consistency, some places may accept less evidence. Currently, for example, many of my colleagues are doing remote assessment which produces "Evidence of Need" and this is accepted for e.g. funding at uni for extra support, exam arrangements etc. However this is administered by a professional. One of the things I often have to explain to people is that, in school, a child can get e.g. extra time because something which has been measured (e.g. reading speed) is below average. No reason for the slowness needs to be identified or explained. At uni, there needs to be a specific reason i.e. a "disability".
- I know costs vary greatly around the country and Ed.Psych usually charge much more than someone like me who is a fully qualified Specialist Tutor/Assessor - but if you have been quoted over £500 that is very high. As an example, when I put in the bid for my current contract at uni, mine was accepted at £350 per assessment.
Anyway enough detail for on line.
So far today I've just had a Zoom meeting with my manager (so actually I haven't changed from the dyslexia topic). Oh, and done a small amount of tidying.
Flying planned today will involve my messy study.
Managed to avoid WAC thankfully.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Day off today, and I felt the urge to tidy so have spent most of the day pulling everything out of the utility room cupboards and reorganising. The cupboards arent that big but they contain a lot of stuff. I have managed to fling a bin bag full, and can now get my mixer off the worktop and into the cupboard. I have a bag of DSs old medicines and a sharps bin that I must get rid of, will ring the doctors and ask if I can take it all there.
I have also tipped about 20 bottles of protein drink down the drain and put the bottles in the recycling, what a waste, we said we didnt want them when DS got discharged from hospital.
DS has his jab on Thursday. I am a little anxious about side effects, but he wont shield so he needs to have it.
Right, off to fill the coal bucket, light the fire, and give the hoover a final run around.9 -
Hello xx
It's me. I'm here. That was one of those weeks at work that is better behind you than in front. To be fair it was only Tuesday that assumed nightmarish qualities but it took the rest of the week for me to regain my equilibrium. And now it's the weekend. Woot woot. Only a two day weekend for me because I said I'd work Monday in return for the Friday off - payback is that next weekend will be a 4 day weekend for me. Big cheesy grin.
I've ordered a pizza delivery and I'm going to chillax tonight. Tomorrow Weekend Willi can come out to play and I must ring an auto locksmith and ask if he can help me and how much. I am tired of not knowing how many turns of the key it will take to start my car. I ended up using my spare key to get started tonight - with my heart in my mouth and my stress levels through the roof wondering what I was going to do if I simply couldn't get the bleep thing to start. So much angst from a worn key!!!
Anyhoo I'm home now. And I'm not going to think about that until tomorrow. Much love to all my Flylady friends.
Here's to the weekend and to us.

Today is DD's birthday and it is also the day my niece has become a mummy - my wish for a shared birthday has been granted. Now I need to knit the cardigan band...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Congratulations Great Auntie Valli and Happy Shared Birthday to your great-niece and your DD
xx
I have spent most of the day following the career of an army surgeon at the turn of the 18/19th centuries. I have managed to link him to a Will that was hidden in a box of UFOs (Unidentified Family Objects)
DH very grudgingly sorted the box of car bits and put only what he needed in his car. In doing so he discovered 2 full bottles of oil for diesel motors, bought for previous cars, which I was able to pass on to DS1 when he called round to collect the cake for DGD1+2 to decorate. The utility is beginning to look a lot better, and would look better still if I could get rid of all DH's paperbacks which are stacked on the shelf. He promised me that he wouldn't buy any more books until he had read all of those. Some hope!
Writing the birthday cards will have to wait for another day or three.
Hope everyone sleeps well tonight xx7 -
Congrats Valli and birthday wishes to DD x
i have been in school today, and this afternoon they took part in the bird watch... there were 3 of us in class, so I took the opportunity to clear work emails, just over 1,000.
When I come home, I made a start on personal emails.... thought I was getting somewhere, when I scrolled down....52,000 + How do I do that quickly???
Teachers have been making calls to parents whose children haven't been seen/heard from in the last week or 2 (no answer from them) and all of a sudden...work being done. Hopefully children will start returning after Feb half term x
Edit.. I have worked out how to go to oldest emails... and I don't think there's any need to check emails from 2016..??? And must try and unsubscribe from unwanted ####7 -
tooch.. I spent a day unsubscribing a few weeks ago.. it was insanely boring but so much tidier in my inbox!
Splitting headache tonight.. so I'm off to bed.
