Have had similar problems with TT BB which I thought were technical issues: intially with my set up; then with my hardware; then with my line. Was due to go live in June and have since spent many hours on many calls with TT trying to resolve.
Have recently found out (by chance, when looking at my phone bill online) that I am due to start receiving BB in March 07!!!. Went back to the sales site to check availability in my area and found that TT BB is not available in my area becasue my local exchange has not been enabled!
Am about to go into battle again for compensation and release from the contract.0 -
Hi: this is an update on my earlier post just in case it helps anyone else with the same problem. I have been waiting since my go live date (October 2) to get connected to BB. After umpteen calls to customer services and loads of calls to Technical Support I have finally had a visit from a BT Openreach engineer (these are the engineers which are supposed to help other BB providers). He came with his own laptop, modem etc. plugged the lot in and guess what? no BB signal coming down the line. Upshot: went back to the Exchange to check the equipment. Finally told that there was a piece of hardware that needs to be changed and that it will take another 5 days to sort. Will post another update then.0

I was with Onetel who was taken over by TT. I had log in difficulties where I was told to check this and that then restart. Later I was told I needed a technical adviser with a minimum charge of £2 after listening to all button pressing I was automatically cut off. This happened regular and was costing a fortune for no help.
I decided I had no trouble when I was with Onetel so connected thir modem and everything is now all right.0 -
this is what TT say to do... worth following...
Before you start:- Please make sure the date is on or after your activation date.
- Save your work in any open files and close any open applications.
- Switch off any firewall or virus protection software. Otherwise you won't be able to install the broadband software. See the manual which came with your security software for how to do this. Don't forget to switch it back on after installation.
- Make sure your modem is not plugged in to your computer.
- Unplug all telephone equipment, including fax machines and Sky boxes.
- If you use Windows 98SE, have your Windows 98SE system disc to hand; you may need it during installation. 1
This will guide you step-by-step through the whole process of installing broadband, including:- Testing your PC to make sure it meets the specifications needed to run the broadband software.
- Showing you how to install the microfilters for your telephone equipment.
- Installing the modem driver software on your PC.
- Showing you how to connect your modem, your phone and your PC.
- Testing your broadband connection.
- Setting up your email account.
- Configuring your broadband for the best performance.
- Installing TalkTalk security software.
- Registering you for online billing.
Guide to installing your TalkTalk modem0 -
I had no end of trouble a year or so ago when my dad got TT. Similar, not connecting during set-up and install. Mother-in-law got a pc last week, and it took TT almost a week to activate her line, even though it should have been connected the week before......grabbing B'stards in my opinion. I've stuck with tiscali for a reliable service and no hassle.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
We've had the Talktalk International 3 package for 18 months now - 17 of which have been trouble free.
The last month, since they installed their equipment in the exchange, they call it Local Loop Unbundling, I have only been able to connect to T'inter at silly o'clock in the morning - not very convenient for someone who loves her kip!
Talktalk technical in South Africa, New Delhie and Chesterfield (only twice) have made umpteen promises to excalate my connection problems to Opal and get the second line team to call me back ....hey I'm still waiting 4 weeks later!
We have now reached the end of our fly lead and have instructed BT to re-take over the line, at a minimum contract of 12months!
We now have to find an international calling plan for Spain anytime and Broadband moderate usage for the price of the TT Internation 3 plan.
Anyone had similar issues with them?
BT are the only providers who can help us out as none of the other telephony service providers recognise us until we're back with BT! What a con!

Been with talktalk for over a year and never really had any problems until last week. Internet was no longer working, it has gone down in the past but only for a few hours and started working upon re-boot.
Tried re-installing the modem which is a SmartAX MT882 I normally connect through the ethernet cable. Each time my computer fails to recognise the the modem and the talktalk set up informs me my computer doesn't have an ethernet network card (which it clearly does seen as i connected to the internet through it for over a year - LOL) also via setting it up with usb cable it says something like "DSL modem already installed"
I tried calling them last week but they sounded like they were fobbing me off saying i must have a virus (have an upto date virus protection) or my firewall was blocking it (no problems before and did try it without it switched off). They said they would send me another modem but i don't think there is anything wrong as I have another smart ax modem (sent me two for some reason) and it still didn't work. Though they said the drivers may have become corrupted which i think is bulls**t and that the new modem will have more up to date drivers. Will obviously try the new modem but i think there maybe another problem
Other problem is i tried to set it up manauallly but am unable to access http://192.168.1.1 either
Any help please?0 -

What do you mean, tried re-installing the modem? There is nothing to install if you are using the Ethernet port on the MT 882. The drivers that you speak of are only necessary if you use the USB port. Have you tried powering down the router and then trying to access http://192.168.1.1 via the Ethernet cable? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
What do you mean powering down? Switching off? Tried that too.
talktalk connect and go says my computer does not have an ethernet connection when it clearly does.
They sent the new modem same model and still unable to connect to the internet and connect and go set up does not recognise the modem is connected even though my computer recognised them modem and has a network connection set up for MT 882. Using XP.
Anyone help at all as talktalk are just fobbing me off.0
