    Morning Peeps,

    Happy November.
Not sure how I did last month accurately as I moved mine and Hubby a bank account to another to get some free money (as 1 does). I did have a grown ups wage (I am part time) as have done a lot of extra shifts. There was a chunk left over at month end and have shifted that side ways back into a pot of savings to round up. Even hubby is putting money away each time he is logging onto his app. He has never really saved of his own accord.
Has anyone else found covid a benefit to re-evaluating what we spend/waste our money on?
We have climbed out of years of manageable debt (I do consider ourselves to have been fortunate)
it did take a long time but did find MSE over 15years ago which helped educate me. (Eternally grateful too)
Making small steps in the reduction of any debt is to be commended, as we did not accrue this debt overnight. These small Tilly Tidies really do work so do not get disheartened, keep going. I got to the point of putting in very small amounts and began to realise I had not missed that money but could see it starting to build up. I was never ashamed then nor am I now of picking up change off the floor, we still do this now give a gift to each other and then we save it.

I'm a big believer in picking up coins I see on the floor too. I bet most of us MSE'ers are! Ours go into a big bottle for an end of year or holiday treat.
I always used to pick up coins too but have found less since Covid affected how we all conduct our lives.  Not only do I still go out less but contactless payments have given people less opportunities to carry (and drop) coins..  My husband is very lucky finding banknotes that have been dropped and blown into a hedge or somewhere where not everyone will spot them.  He doesn't go deliberately scavenging, he just has a uncanny knack for seeing them. He found a tenner yesterday,  The polymer notes don't get all bedraggled after being out in the rain like the old notes did.

Lovely to see a new 'face' over here, Its_timeyay.  Welcome!

IrishSean set up the challenge but he seems to have disappeared totally for most of the yearsob.  There are so few of us posting, I sometimes feel like I'm talking to myselfrotf.  I've kept on with recording my 'tidies' regardless every Sunday though as being accountable, even if only to myself, over a whole year has been really good for me.  Tilly Tidying is something I plan to do for the rest of my life but I doubt I'll continue recording them on MSE once the year is up.  The 'tidying' habit has become second-nature to me now and I think I can rely on just keeping my own records in my 'real' old-school diary next year.

I've no idea if Sean will pop in again before the year-end to see how we have all got on with his challenge, or whether he or anyone else will carry it on next year.  If no one does, maybe you could do it.  Good luck with your debt-bustingthumbsup

Thank you and well done to you @Fidelia, you seem to have created a habit for life, hopefully if this thread runs next year it might motivate me to do the same.  Good luck maybe we will meet again on other boards 😊

    Morning Peeps,
I spotted just over a week ago on my bank account app a payment I did not recognise. I was also able to look into the information in the back ground of the transaction. I am sure this does not show on on-line account statement. (I will be checking though) It was originally paid on behalf of my son for his house insurance last year. Cheeky blighters had used my account details for auto renewal  Got my son to ring them, he's not good on the phone! he did well and my money was refunded within 48hrs.
Happy with that. So that is now Tidied away all 132.16 of it
@Its_time welcome into here. Just make the start and see where the journey takes you. Suppose its like paying extra of a debt but the quantity is not important, the action is. There seems to be more banks now getting on board of assisting customers in the way of moving the change (rounding up) and my bank NationW also does a tilly tidy offer when you log into your account. I do this frequently and also round down to any figure I can afford to move. I have at times just  moved 2p.
