so yesterday DH really fancied burgers after work so we had Iceland SW burgers in wm buns with a massive salad, still higher syns than planned cos i had cheese and mayo and ketchup etc plus I'd already had my HEB! but at least i tried!
so meatballs will be today, is there such a thing as a syn free marinara sauce recipe? was going to use dolmio but assume homemade would be much better?
anyway today:
B - spinach, pepper and ham omelette, might have some baked beans, coffee with coffee mate
L - Carrot and lentil soup (i made this recipe up from yellow sticker items but it is delish and super filling and syn free)
D - meatballs, pasta and marinara - hoping someone has a great low syn/ syn free recipe)
feeling quite virtuous and went for a 6 mile hike yesterday so might allow myself more of my syn allowance today and have a biscuit or something with my hot choc tonight....
have a great day all! think 'm going to weigh tomorrow as I know I'll go off track on the weekend (wedding anniversary!) so monday would be too depressing!2 -
@lizbob there are lots of recipe's online for synf-ree sauces (think Pinch of Nom has one specifically with meatballs if I remember correctly) but all my pasta sauces are homemade. Don't really have a recipe as such but basically end up frying off an onion and some garlic in fry light, add in either a tin of chopped tomatoes or passata (depending on what the supermarket have and if I want a chunky or smooth sauce), some tomato paste, bit of beef or veg stock and some herbs (again either mixed italian ones or bay leaves and basil / oregano depending on what's in the cupboard). Most of the time I'll also grate in some carrots or chuck a handful of frozen peppers in if I feel like it. If I'm making a bolognese, I'll add the mince in after the onions and garlic have sweated for a little bit and yesterday I grated a courgette into my mince mixture to bulk it out a bit and add some additional vegetable goodness. Hope that helps - it won't ever taste like the stuff from the jar but I like that I can customise what I'm having and eat whole foods rather than anything too processed.

I was fat before though and just got fatter 🙈🙈

You look fantastic now bubbs! I don't really look much better with only losing a stone but I definitely feel better and my clothes fit better even though I didn't change size - think that was why I decided I needed to lose weight because I was getting to the stage where I really needed to go up a size and didn't want to! My waist was also the same size as my DH's😠 which just didn't seem right - I'm 5'1" and he's 6'2"!
I gave up smoking shortly before I got to my final target and I think doing SW helped me not to put weight on after giving up. We both used to smoke at least 30 a day, god how on earth did we afford it, couldn't afford it now I know that!

Brilliant photos bubbs! SW is sooo worth it! 😁
There are masses of recipes online for marinara sauce liz just Google. This one has quite a few ingredients
Recipe: Tomato pasta sauce | Sainsbury's
But there are simpler ones too. Most seem to make loads but if it's just for 2 of you then one tin of tomatoes should be enough. All you need to do is substitute Frylight instead of the oil and sweetener instead of sugar. I've never tried it but apparently SW make a pasta sauce too which you could buy from Iceland. If you like your sauce 'gloopy' and smooth like the jars then I'd either add a little cornflour & water paste ( level tbsp cornflour = 1 syn) or use passata and see what you think before thickening. Like ruby, I add in loads of veg (tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots etc) to get my Speed food up. One tip that I use is to soften the chopped onion, with a little water, in the microwave for a couple of minutes before frying. It's so much quicker than sweating an onion from scratch.
I notice you had Coffeemate (1 syn per teaspoon) with your coffee. That's fine if you prefer it to milk. If you don't plan to use all/any of your 2 HEAs then you can have cheese on your pasta if you want. Having 2 HEAs is a relatively new thing to SW and I'm loving having Parmesan (30g) on my Bolognese. 😋
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash, banana, skinny syrup (F), HEB porridge, HEA milk, raspberries (S)
L- LO casserole and veg (P,S,F)
D- sausage casserole (P,S,F), tagliatelle (F)
Syns- BGTY sausages 2

thanks all i don't know why but i thought passata wasn't free due to being blended? anyway my usual sauce recipe minus the olive oil is blipping away in the slow cooker so that's good. yes i switched to coffee mate cos for some reason I'm happy with just 1 spoonful whereas with milk i have 100mls or more per coffee! and yes I absolutely plan to have my cheese on my pasta!2

We usually used to do day trips to France and Belgium quite regularly! Used to go Belgium at the start and end of all our France holidays too bubbs. Way cheaper than buying here! Just looked up the price for the ones we used to smoke and they are now £12.75 for 20 so would be more than £250 a week - wow over £1,000 a month! So glad we gave up when we did.

Could I join you on your Slimming World journeys?
I've been to various slimming world classes. I worked out the other day that I joined my first class 23 years ago when it was the red and green plan! Heavier now than back then..but that's by the by...
It's shopping day for me tomorrow so I'll be doing a weekly meal plan tonight and weighing in tomorrow morning for my starting weight.
I'm going to be doing a mix of green/red/EE days. While I know tht Slimming World no longer promote or support the red/green days, I know that I lost weight easier and felt healthier on this plan, so I'm going to see how it goes.
Over the years I've allowed myself to become sidetracked by other diets/eating plans but I know that my most successful weight loss has been with Slimming World so I've put aside anything not Slimming World related so I can get my head back in the game.2
