I never buy baking potatoes sary, just look for the biggest in the bag and then like denise said if I need 2 I do that. I rarely do online shopping so I try to choose bags with large potatoes as they're better for chips too.

I always make my own stir fry sauce denise. My favourite with chicken is 2 tbs of honey and a tbs of soy. I cook the stir fry in that then add a good shake from a bottle of lime juice before serving. 😋

I always buy a sack of potatoes from my local farm shop - pay about £6.50 for 25 Kg bag so cheaper than the local SM.   Definitely get a good selection of different sized potatoes.

Also buy onions by the sack (or box depending on what they have at the farm shop at the time), although they work out a bit dearer than SM are much nicer onions and a good size - always find the SM ones really small and end up having to use at least 2 or 3 rather than just one!

Like the sound of your stir fry sauce maman.  Another one to try!  Think I'd be lost without my bottles of lime and lemon juice - always have one or the other if not both in the fridge!

I've decided to do yorkies again tonight so an extra couple of syns I'd not accounted for earlier!  We've also got mashed swede, brussels roasted carrots, peppers, onions & potatoes.  Chicken has just come out of the oven and smells gorgeous, added a nice spice rub to it before cooking, so resting now while the yorkies cook.  Looking forward to dinner tonight more than usual!

Would welcome views on slow cookers. I've got a crockpot that's years old. It still works fine so no urgency to do anything. I mainly use it for batch cooking Bolognese, chillis and soup. When I was washing it today DH suggested we get a new one as it's really scruffy. Should I just replace like for like or are there better ones around? 🤔

I've got a crockpot too maman and it too is getting scruffy but it still works so can't see much point in replacing but when it gets to the stage of replacing it I think I'll likely go for one of the ones that have a metal inner than you can use to sear meat on the cooker rather than having to use a frying pan to do it before throwing into the slow cooker.  Having said that it's only when I do beef stew I bother with browning the meat anyway so it may well be not worth the extra cost but at the moment I don't need to make the decision.

I tend to use my pressure cooker more than the slow cooker these days particularly since I've been using dried beans rather than tinned ones most of the time and I'm not really sure they cook properly in a slow cooker.

Sorry - not much help there really!  Just some thoughts.
