Oops I haven't posted for a few days. I'm upto 5 NSDs & today should make it 6. I did another 0lio collection yesterday. A much smaller one this time, but the DCs delved into a box of Krispie treats, we kept a little fruit & veg, and everything else I listed online has been requested. Did a small top up shop whilst I was collecting (£6) and shouldn't need anything else for a while - freezer is still full of Xmas leftovers (FIL gave us a turkey crown but I'd already bought a thigh) and bits from my last 0lio collection.
We've managed to get out of the house for a few frosty walks, but I've only done the 1 yoga session so far. Healthy eating & water consumption is going ok but could be better. I weighed myself yesterday and I'm back to where I started last year so really need to make an effort to shift some of this weight.
I'm grateful for:

apple_muncher said:Shrewbie - wow! to that snowfall! When I was there (~25years ago) I remember people being amazed at a smattering of snow. Madrid isn't designed for snow!!
I wasn’t conga-ing though, I was cosy and warm at home yesterday with my second NSD. Made homemade pizzas and ate the last of the Christmas cheese. Did eat quite a bit of chocolate, oops. But no alcohol, yay! Planned classes, sorted out my rescheduling of some private classes, cleaned the bathroom, read loads of a book and did some research online for masters courses and a new hobby that I'm thinking of trying.
Today we are batch cooking for the week ahead, doing some more planning, I should also do some yoga since the gym is closed and I’m calling NSD 3.
Grateful for feeling motivated, for bf batch cooking and for my Mum being a lovely person and helping me out all the time.

Somehow managed to squeeze into the space at the bottom of the bed (wasn't sure if I would be able to get up again because there was precious room to turn around in to get into a position for getting up) and move the fully loaded bed up to the toilet roll headboard. It was only 8" but I usually dismantle the bed or at least move all the bedding into mum's room and take out the storage drawers (more of mum's bedding, spare shams etc) before moving it. So gold star to me.
Phase two of making the bed properly (I have been smoothing and straightening each day) is to put the mattress protector back where it belongs as I am now warm enough with one wooly cover not two. The mattress cover is a double layer of merino wool with flannelette edges (the bits that go down the edges of the bed and underneath) so it's no mean undertaking. It's like laying a carpet flat across the bed but unlike laying a carpet you can't use your feet to do the final smoothing shuffle, you have to pull at it (I think I manged to move about one square foot of blanket at a time when helping mum to do it) and the smooth that bit out. Some of the sheets are ready for changing so will do sheet changing and layering tomorrow (waiting in case I drop or spill anything).
Had a wonderful sleep, my plumped pillows helped but generally I am getting lots of sleep so that's one positive habit and have kicked one bad habit so will pick another to start working on.
On a sad note, yesterday the young woman who was Best 'Man' at DS1's wedding reported the death of a good friend from COVID. He was 35 years old and it was 2 days from his positive test to his death. This is the meaning of pandemic, a worldwide epidemic. This is what happens when you fail to suppress an easily transmitted disease in it's early stages, Let's hope we have not reached the tipping point and can still turn this around. I'm not going to turn this into a general rant against our incompetent administration (there are petitions to sign and other ways of taking action) but please be vigilant - don't leave your homes other than for essentials, wear your masks (and gloves), keep a 2m distance wherever possible. I'm not saying don't complain - if venting on here helps your mental health that's good, but feel free to vent your spleen on any covid deniers.
Up your precautions if possible (I've noticed even I am getting lax on handwashing), strip off and wash yourself and all your clothes when you have been outside, wipe all parcels and food before bringing it in (I was putting nearly all the food in the shed for a 3 day quarantine until the rat incident, this meant I only had to wipe the items that I needed straight away). People like mum and myself are going to be living with this for many years -restricting what we do and how we do it, twice yearly injections. The vaccine only gives some protection against the virus (as little as 29% from the first injection). Vaccinated people can still get the virus (but probably suffer the effects to a minor degree) and can still pass it to others.
and finally
First trip of the year organised
Hopefully going to Iceland in February
If that works out then it's Tesco in march and Asda in April

Afternoon all, hope you're all staying dry and warm and cosy! I for one am in my onesie, I had forgotten just how warm it is! I look ridiculous but I don't care!
Went to see the horse earlier, decided not to ride as it's icy and thought we'd both prefer not to get too cold! The Downs was also really busy with walkers despite it being around 0° so best to avoid it. Doesn't help with my target to ride 200km this year but I'll get there!
Am calling NSD number 7 now. Going to spend the rest of the day chilling, probably squeeze in a quick workout as I didn't ride.5 -
No NSD here - I took dd up to Sainz as we were practically out of several gluten+dairy free items that she lives on. It was beautifully quiet walk up at 9.45 and we stopped for dd to take many many photos of frost-laden plants/bushes/trees/spider webs. But on our way back home, there were significantly more people about, so I'm glad we went early.I'm 9th on the vaccine list - yay!Dd has her bday on weds and we are planning on using the fireworks dh bought for nov 5th and never used. I'll let the neighbourhood know so that they can watch them too. Ha ha - that sounds like they'll be spectacular whereas they're just normal ones! But it gives the pet owners advance warning too...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4
