Miró said:Thank you everyone for your thoughts on wot colours look good with yellow. Gosh you all have some very inspiring ideas re pairing of colours!! Just wish I had the confidence for bright colours but I always feel so conspicuous when removed from my usual palette of navy/black/beige/sludge green. I love to see other people in bright colours tho. Think I will probably end up with the rather boring Hobbs inspired white t-shirt or a black top as mentioned by Brie and DfV
That's the ivy I remembered and thought of yesterday and I've included my finger and thumb for scale and colour reference purposes.
This is a close up of a pelargonium that I think is extremely attractive and I hope this photo shows how yellow the pale part of its leaves are.
Then just because I thought you might like to see it here is the same pelargonium with its flowers which do look lovely against the pale yellow I think.6 -
Not buying much at the moment, wardrobes full.
But will find room for these...
Next linen mix sleeveless dress with patch pockets in fuchsia. This is a style that Next has done in various colours (with slight tweeks) for a few years. Very easy and comfortable to wear. £4.00 Hospice shop.
Mantaray floaty, casual summer dress in a crinkle fabric, sea green with bright birds on, pockets and asymmetrical hem. Will be great as a beach cover up (should I ever set eye on a beach again) or holiday day dress. £2.00 Salvation Army - they had a sale on.
Great haul of Denby, DFV.5 -
Some bargains grabbed over the last couple of weeks. A lovely yellow H&M summer dress, some bargain blu rays that Mr BH had been after (including one out of print), and a top originally from NEXT.We’ll be heading to Inverness in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations for particular chazzas we should visit? TIA! 😊Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

I had a piece of luck in my local Barnardo's yesterday where I found the hardback cookbooks had all been marked down to 50p each. Then on the bric a brac shelves I found a Lakeland yoghurt maker and a Lumie sunrise alarm clock which I've been wondering about purchasing for the winter months followed by a gymball in the right size for me.
I then staggered across the road to the Oxfam shop and found a lovely glass terrine mould, an unopened packet of stick on hooks (just right for aprons and tea towels), some nesting plastic cereal containers and an unopened packet of lemon wraps followed by the River Cottage book of mushrooms by John Wright. I've borrowed his book on foraging from the library and it is currently on my bedside table but now I have colour photos of all the mushrooms to enjoy too.
Here is my haul, I had difficulty getting the Lumie clock into the photo but it is just visible at the top right. The second book in the stack (counting from the bottom up) is another Good Housekeeping one in a slip case. The books were so heavy that I had to catch the bus home and forgo visiting the Age UK shop which I'd planned to drop into so I'm hoping to fit that in today."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

@goldfinches I had to look up what 'lemon wraps' are for.....blimey, never knew such things existed!! (Fine diners wrap em round half a lemon to stop em squirting and contain the pips). I have the audiobook of Letters of Note on the go as my 'middle of the night, can't sleep' book....keep meaning to look out for the other books in the series....hope you enjoy it8

Haven’t bought a tin for shampoo bar, reused one for lemon drops. Sons boggling but hair loving it!8 -
@Miró and @DigForVictory - I'll probably only ever use the lemon wraps on the very rare occasions when I take the time to set a beautiful table for myself but, as ever, I can't pass a piece of specialised kit for food without rugby tackling it to the floor and clamouring to be allowed to pay over the odds for it too. I sometimes think that I must have hit every branch on the Lakeland tree, if there is such a plant.
Annoyingly, I tried to visit the Age UK branch early this afternoon and they were shut with a notice on the door saying that they were closed on Sunday (huh?) and I could see a couple of interesting pieces of kitchenalia through the front window! Bah, humbug!"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I've been watching all you skipping to and fro buying up all sorts including more Denby than I knew existed but haven't been entering into the fun much myself. Well that might change any day now!
I had to pop into a local shop (long story...) and noticed that they had a Poole Pottery Cranborne tea set - teapot, milk jug and 4 cups and saucers. Decent price too. I'm hoping it will still be there on Tuesday when the shop reopens - I don't think it was open today and don't think it would open on Monday either.
I like the Cranborne pattern and we do have a very few plates that i like to use for lunches and goes nicely in the microwave too.
And then I googled it and saw what it's selling for on eb@y!!! I wonder if I will be tempted to resell it? Does anyone do that much???
