Charity Shopping - bargains galore for 2021!

@Miró - could it go into a friend's or neighbour's freezer?
Barring that I think I agree with @Floss's suggestion of returning it as I'd worry about the heat of the oven sparking a mass break out from pupa cases and one or two getting past me.
Very envious of everyone's great clothes bargains on here and hope to find some myself tomorrow.

Miro, offer clothing style consultation in exchange for freezer hours? I’d hate to bake nice leather buttons but The Evil Moth should not be tolerated but rendered extinct sharpish.
Himself loathes supermarkets & has a special snarl for IKEA (unless helping a son - dear gods, son pulled Every Keaton move without realising & I nearly crashed the car several times laughing) but turned loose in a street of charity shops, hunts with glee. I’m the spare wheel but I’m the Denbyholic. When I shop & take a son to reach the tall stuff, they’re trained to both spot possible pieces & present then to me, basestamp visible then lug dutifully. At the supermarket, one even fetches a second trolley if needed, so I’m not struggling to corner with an overloaded vehicle. (Gets his choice of nutritional supplement crisps etc & whatever icecream on promo - does like a pint of Ben & Jerry’s!)8 -
A happy trip to 2 charity shops yesterday.
Is it weird to get 'vibes' from particular shops? There's a couple I really like visiting, and another couple that just feel odd/strange and put me off and not even for legitimate reasoning - say prices or layout, etc, just the 'feeling'
Anyway, went to the 2 I like. Happily came out with 4 books at £1 each, and DS (11) has a mission each time we visit one (saves him touching the breakables!) and he was happy to have achieved the holy grail of shorts for his Dad, 32inch waist boarders shorts AND then beyond happy to discover he'd found them on the half price rail. I'd have paid full price but HP is an extra joy!
Second shop didn't hold any goodies for me, but the staff are super lovely. So £7.50 spend total, happy DS and a happy DH.

wanted to post a photo of the lovely Poole pottery I got the other day but no luck! Probably this daft pc i'm on.
Anyhoo.....4 cups (OH claims they are for coffee rather than tea), 4 saucers, sugar bowl!! (which is nice as we haven't had one for about 25 years), teapot and what looked at first to be a milk jug but seems to be (again OH claims) a gravy boat. £15. All very good condition except for a hairline crack in the jug/boat.
Oddly while all the cups look the same no 2 have the same stamp on the bottom. All say Poole Pottery but the stamp is different, some have the pattern name but not displayed the same way. I expect this is due to them having been bought as seconds. There used to be an seconds shop on Poole Quay so likely from there.
Also picked up 2 Gaudi pattern egg cups marked as from Barcelona. £2.50. OH loves a boiled egg so these are a nice addition to the collection we have. Nice too as we stopped in Barcelona during a cruise a few years back and would love to go back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Took a huge bag of donations in on Tuesday. Then bought:
Tu denim knee length shorts to replace a pair of George ones I had donated because the waist was a bit low £2.58
A white Zara long shirt with an elasticated bit on the waist which I plan to wear like a tunic with leggings £3
A Mantaray jersey just below my chobbly knee length teal leaves and pink flowers £3
Leather pony skin ballet flats in a sand and dark brown zebra print from Next £3.50 (look like new)
A cream Marc Jacobs handbag which I think is leather but doesn’t have a label anywhere saying what it is made of £6.50.
I prefer to shop without DH or DS as I can browse for longer.7 -
@Potternerd you sound like you did really well on your buy.
I like to charity shop with certain friends and my mum. Some people get really into it and it encourages me to dig more.4 -
@killerpeaty That link was a fascinating read! Don't think I would be brave enough to put clothing in the oven tho.... I would also be having nightmares about any survivors crawling about and getting into food. What a sad experience for that poor man...I really felt empathy for him.
@Floss Re returning the jacket - this chazza shop doesn't accept returns on sale goods but anyhoo I don't want a refund and I would be worried about perpetuating the problem by possibly transporting the little critters back there!!
@goldfinches All my friends seem to run their freezers jam packed full unfortunately....also, I can imagine the look on some of their faces if I was to rock up with..."can I put my moth infested jacket in your freezer please!"
@DigForVictory I'm quite surprised by how much I've been freaked out by this episode...started feeling very itchy/scratchy thinking about what the wingedy beasties and grubs and pupae may be getting up to...ick, yuk. Perhaps too much moth Googling!
Thank you all for your comments. Anyhoo, dilemma sorted now. I carried the triple wrapped garment round to a friend's garden this evening and we gave it, and any lodgers, a respectful cremation. So sad to just destroy it, (even the buttons), but I would never have felt comfortable wearing it and would constantly worry about moth offspring munching away on my wool and cashmere.
*Note to self - get eyes tested and carry spectacles and/or a magnifying glass at all times in future!!8 -

Sometimes I gravitate towards a given chazzer knowing there is something in there for me, I just don't know what it is.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.6 -

We’ve been away for a few days, so it was nice to explore some chazzas away from our usual spot. Bought a couple of movies on blu ray that OH had been after, plus another which was only £1 that had good reviews, and was only out a couple of years ago. Also snaffled a couple of books I’d been after, including a nature biography which is also fairly new.Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️
