Finally completed on our new home at the end of September, so expecting some negative months for at least September and October as we gradually sort things out.
Despite a negative figure (cash balances down), its nice to see that overall my grand total (including investments) is holding up.
Have temporarily paused the S&S ISA contributions as I build up a cash buffer for expected works on the house in the near/medium-term future. However all the DDs and over payments have not yet been setup on our joint account, so I'm still yet not sure how well/if our (mine and OHs) contributions to the joint account will sufficiently cover for them all.
Additionally there are a few further bills (like council tax) that we haven't yet even setup despite having lived here for just over a month now, but from what I have read on the council's website we have to wait to receive our first bill...
S&S ISA returned 2.0% over October, and is currently +14.8% YTD vs +16.1% for Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap Acc. My performance is net of all fees (fund manager, trading costs and platform charges) whereas Vanguard is the same except platform charges are excluded (using simple prices from their website).
Form submitted.
Spending up this month as we've gradually been buying more things for the house. All S&S ISA/LISA contributions paused for now as still adjusting to new monthly outgoings having recently moved.
Another consideration now is saving up for improvements/renovations to the house that we'd like to do, I'm undecided as to whether I should save up cash and fund it that way, or keep investing and when we're ready to go ahead with the project take out loan and/or sell some investments to fund it? I feel that the easy option is to save as cash to fund it, but I feel that the right thing to do is to continue investing so that if there are any delays at least my cash is working hard. (Please note, emergency cash fund already in place)."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

@george4064 if that were me I would do some-and-some - I would keep investing in your LISA (hopefully in Accumulation funds) and save some cash each month. If there is a sacrifice, for me it is the S&S ISA but I would put premium bond winnings and any windfall cash to it so it does not suffer. It depends on the scale of the improvements too. A loan for an extension (second mortgage) - cash and 0% credit cards for decorating or internal updating. It's important to live for a year with a house and garden so you know what your priorities are beyond cosmetic, and be prepared for the unexpected in my experience - a cold draughty room in our first house was going to be the nursery. Upon stripping the wallpaper it emerged the huge sash window was held in by newspaper!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Just updated for November with an unexpected £775.55 - dividends (accumulated in cash) in my ISA were surprisingly high this month. I have only included the interest on the Regular Saver that matured as the £3000 was essentially recycled. Nevertheless we did save it and the money is in my current account as I have a humungous credit card bill this month. I'm sure I've said that before... last month... hmm! - and I raided the emergency fund for a replacement oil tank (no gas here)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hi everyone,
Number 20 here reporting + £2787. This is made up mainly from my annual bonus which I received in November. This brings me to £16528 for the year which I can't quite believe. I have also been able to cash flow £1300 for property fees for the house I'm buying. So if that wasn't happening I would have a little more.
I've been working really hard to reduce my outgoings and save every penny. I really hope I can join the thread again for 2022.4 -
Hi
£1,588.12 saved in November so total for the year is £16,488.00. Form submitted.
I’ve surpassed my £15K target for the year, helped by completely working from home for most of the year, with odd days or weeks in the office here and there. I’m currently trying to make plans for 2022 and look forward to joining the 2022 challenge.
Hope you’re on the mend slowlyfading and everyone else is doing OK.

£1536.13 for November - a really really good month for me, mainly thanks to some surveys that have been pretty lucrative.
Although I've surpassed my £12k target I'm potentially on track to save £12k outside my pension for this year, which would be amazing. Will depend on how December goes.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

#80 reporting £1,789.07 for November! This has been boosted by my LISA bonus coming through and some interest from my HTB ISA. I plan to close my HTB ISA soon, but it is acting as a savings account at the moment.
I think I may fall just shy of my £11k target. We have just bought a puppy and he is due to arrive just after Christmas!!
November breakdown:
- HTB ISA: £200
- HTB ISA Interest: £89.07
- S&S ISA: £400
- LISA bonus: £1,000
- Start to Save: £100
- Total: £1,789.07

#21 reporting £2003.04 for November, I had a great month but also had a lot of big costs this month which brought my total down but still pleased as I’ve worked really hard this month. Feeling a bit exhausted from all the extra work but I’m getting closer to my first big savings goal so hopefully another year or so I’ll hit that figure.Hope you are on the mend Slowly4
