Hope your ok Slowly fading. I know I’m early but I’d love to commit for 2022. I’m hopefully going to be buying a house over the next 6 months so a realistic target for me for 2022 is going to be 3k.1

I never in my wildest dreams thought that I could save this much in a year. It was possible because I took on extra work, when others were not able to. Hopefully, it will bring my FIRE forward by three years. These last two years have taught me some valuable lessons about if you strip back all spending how much you can save. In the last couple of months, spending has increased, eg paying to travel to work and the odd day out with friends but I do not want to go back to pre-pandemic spending levels.Thank you SF for running this thread and to all fellow savers for your support.Thinking forward to 2022, I would like to join up again, it will be my eighth year on this challenge. My target for the year will be £15,0002025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Thanks for the well wishes and messages - I am getting there, though it is frustratingly slow and with work and a family to juggle, I must admit to being exhausted most of the time! The spreadsheet is updated - looking forward to seeing the final figures from everyone; there are lots of people reaching their target already which is fantastic. The 2022 thread will be up in a few days - you will need to post there to join that challenge so try not to clog this thread up with that - I will see you in the next oneBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I haven't updated for a bit as my savings goal/method/plan has all gone sideways. I have been thinking about moving to the seaside since about April, but had promised myself to postpone any decisions until 2022. Well things happened at work in September, and I rushed an application for a job I saw last minute on the 26th October. By the 1st November I had been offered the job and booked an estate agent for a house valuation. By 22nd November I had a sale chain formed, and now I am just waiting for everything to go through. I have been spending a little on doing the house up and a little on surveys and searches etc, and not really saving anything. I will end up with actually a portion of released equity as I am buying a cheaper home, but I don't feel like that counts towards savings as it doesn't feel "earned".
Essentially, I have no idea how to account for what is going on in savings right now. I think I will just start afresh in January, although I may have a tally up at the end of the year just to keep score.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

Number 16 reporting £333 for the month of December.
Having been on track pretty much most of the year we’ve had a poor last few months, missing our target in the process.
However, we shall return next year with an increased target of £15k. Really motivated to smash it next year.
Many thanks to Slowly and to everyone else for encouragement, directly or otherwise. Best thread on the forum.3
