#22 declaring £200 for January. Hope everyone is keeping well.

#17 reporting for January. As I'm still on my rolling weekly contract for work, I managed to save £1,269 this month (form submitted). I'm expecting the next few months to be fairly lean as I need to get some work done on my house and will potentially replace my car.
Saving goal for 2025: £17,561/£30,000 (58%)
Saving goal for 2024: £27k - achieved1 -

Hi, I know I’m a bit late, but can I join in too please?
I was a DFW, paid off a lot of debt, then met my DH, bought a house was mortgage neutral and then sold that house and bought one at 10k more than the old one but with no mortgage . We are doing a lot of renovations at the moment so can’t through as much as I want to at this challenge but I will do my best!
I am am now trying to focus on retiring early so my savings are going straight to my pension. It’s one thing I have seriously neglected considering i have no mortgage and considerable savings, but there doesn’t seem to be any specific pension challenges so I hope it’s ok to use this challenge as motivation for me? I have a new Work Place pension that had £3k in it at Jan 1st and my aim is to get it to £12k by the end of the year. Admittedly there is my employers contribution and the 20% tax added to my contributions but I do have the renovation costs.
At at the moment I’m trying to go back to my MSE basics, I have been through our direct debits, cancelled the National Trust for the first time in 12 years, reduced our Spotify to a single user (DH won’t give up this and we listen to it a lot) and applied for both of us to get the working from home tax break.
i am looking out for items to de clutter and sell (when I can) and hoping to make some savings on our food shop. Trouble is DH doesn’t want to economise quite as much as I do, so no rice and beans every night for us! I am looking at the Jack Munroe site for some ideas, but a lot of the budget recipes on the bbc and other websites aren’t that budget!
