Good Morning folks, number 4 slinking in to do a very late January update. I am decalring £0 for January. I had put away around £3500 for January but it was promptly transferred out of savings the same day. My lovely OH was in a car accident - he is ok thankfully but his car was written off so we added money to the insurance settlement to get him an new (to us) car. The whole situation has been really stressful but the one thing that wasn't stressful was knowing we had money in savings to cover the cost of getting another car. So thanks again to SF for running this thread and the motivation and accountability that really helps.6

Sorry to hear that @[Deleted User] - thank goodness your OH is OK and you had the savings to top up. My DH wrote off our commuting hatchback, and the Ford Puma of the people in front when he micro-dozed on the main trunk road on a Friday night journey home (knackered teacher) - all the air bags triggered and my biggest memory (when I eventually reached him - some time later in a lay-by) was the smell of gunpowder as we emptied the glove box and boot of personal possessions. It's why we save, so these episodes don't derail us. Best wishesSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Thanks Suffolk_lass glad your DH was ok. I am a knackered teacher too so he has my sympathies. Agree, this is why we save - for situation like this. Take care.2

Hi SF and all
number 61 checking in for month 2, £363.33 banked in the savings accounts.Looking to increase the savings target to £6,000 for the year. End of the month is the last payment on a loan and that money will go straight towards the savings. Also Flexi furlough at my work is ending soon so wages should be back to some type of normal.Side question when do people think it’s best to add in cash savings to this? I was going do it in December when once i go to bank it and redistribute it in to saving pots.2 -

Just something to keep in the back of you mind as you go along if you fall a bit behind target as you can catch up with this last chunk perhaps?
Loving everyone's motivation on here...3 days to pay day for me...*drums fingers waiting for number*4 -
Hi Becky
thanks for the response that what I was thinking come November or December time see if I’ve reached target. If not it’s a nice booster to push me over the line2
