I built a new salary tool to help explain deductions and tax brackets. Try it here: salarytools.co.uk1 -
I'll be updating with my total and submitting the form on the 1st - I've added a fair amount to my ISA so I'm going to be about a third of the way to my target already, but nearly half of that is because one of my investment trusts is offering its shareholders to subscribe for additional shares (Hipgnosis Songs if anyone is wondering) which I've decided to go for.
I don't anticipate saving anywhere near as much as this for the rest of the year, but I may well have to revise my target2 -
Pay day has arrived, so some additional leftover funds have been added to Jan's figures
Breakdown:PSB 125
S&S ISA 300
SIPP 500
2 x £400 SAVER 800
2 x £250 SAVER 500

Haven't included any deductions from salary (so employer scheme pension and share scheme deductions), mortgage OPs nor savings which have a set purpose (such as funds set aside for son at uni and a planned expensive job being done on the house)
(Above is for my reference so I can see what I did/ didn't include in month 1
)
Will update via form now

I have somehow managed to save £1735 this month... We were paid early before Christmas so I held on to some money to bridge the big gap to January payday, but it seems that lockdown has bridged it for me, so I have more left than usual!I hope everyone is keeping well and safe. No. 14 reporting £2,500 for January. ISA fund has dipped a little, but I've hardly spent anything this month apart from food. Even that was less than usual as I've been using up all the Christmas stuff that was left . And no January sales this year!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:
Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0002 -
002 reporting £1817 for January. That's £1000 into the S&S ISA, and the rest I've really no idea where to put it now interest rates have gone so low. Just 23 more paydays until I reach FIRE, so I'll probably just look for a short-term saver.
It's great to see lots of people in the thread, new and old, and I hope everyone manages to stay the course for the full year. The more the merrier!Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.1 -

First declaration having recently joined. £1403.63, more than my target, but like most lockdown reduces spending opportunities!
