Thanks @MovingForwards. I'm moving to a relative's house that isn't in the area I want to live so staying there won't happen. I have a lot of work to do due to the bursary I won. They have kindly agreed a delayed start but the week after I move in I will need to be doing some serious work to catch up. So, no holiday yet :)

    Thanks @atrixa :)

    Thanks @Skint_yet_Again and @MovingForwards
I have completed and now I am on the other side.
The flat is warm and dry with lots of hot water for baths. There is a comfy bed. It is in a nice area. I feel very thankful. it will be a good base for me to plan (and execute) the next stage of the plan :)

Thanks MF. It is a chance to regroup. I am unable to stop myself from house hunting despite praising myself a bit of a break first :)

  • I think once you start looking at houses it becomes addictive! I don’t think we will be selling for at least a year but I’m trying to not look on right move

You're monitoring the local market, maybe the one will pop up!
I occasionally look, shows me there's still nothing better than what I've got.

There is a posh Farmer's Market here where the prices are extortionate. I meet friend there but I am going to start setting a budget of £10 a week to spend there. There is also a more traditional market that is a LOT cheaper. I picked up 10 oranges for £1. I went to a Turkish supermarket and bought good olives, good hummus, sheep's feta and 5 big lemons for £6.50.

There is an organic veggie box. You pick it up from a central point. I might start getting this fortnightly. If I buy a 5L of lentils for veg and lentil soup daily, I should be able to manage on a £25 a week budget for food.

Going to give it a try. My spending feels out of control so it would be nice to get some control over this area of my life...

Farmer's markets are always expensive, smaller units to run, lower turnover but costs are higher due to it. Quality is much better though, I see it as a trade off. Your new area sounds more culturally diverse, it's going to make cooking even more pleasurable. Did they have a fresh bakery section in the supermarket?

Now you're moved the feeling of coming / going will pass and spending will come back under control.
