  • Thanks @savingwannabe It is snowing here so enforced rest as I am confined to one warm room wrapped in blankets! I will continue to log my spending. I must admit I didn't realise how emotionally draining moving by myself would be. A real rollercoaster, but even as I write that I know it will be worth it in the end. I am very lucky that I have options.

So today it is snowing! It looks so pretty.

I was going to buy a paper this weekend and also walk with a friend. Both off the schedule. I am thinking of asking my local paper shop about having a paper delivered at the weekend. It will be a treat, cut down on my contact. I also realised I go to supermarkets for a paper as the corner shop is small and they don't wear masks. I inevitably buy a few extras so this might be a cost saving move.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Paper delivery sounds like a good idea. My local one doesn't wear masks either, but they are behind a screen.

    Enjoy the snow ☃️

You are achieving so much atm with the move so don't forget to look at what you are achieving and be proud of that 😊
In relation to budgeting, we would all like to get to the end of the month with money left but sometimes it just doesn't happen unfortunately. The main thing is that you are putting a budget in place, imagine if you didn't. I do find the longer I do monthly budgets the more I learn and the better chance I have of ending the month with a few pennies... Although I will say payday can't come quick enough this month.
    Have a lovely day.

  • Thanks @MovingForwards and @longway2go for the encouragement :)

Was feeling low and my fave wine was on offer at the supermarket. First time I have had a glass of wine since Christmas day 2020. I popped in on the way back from the chemist...add in a few other naughties and some nice olives. Yikes. One thing I know is once the budget boundaries have been breached it is easier to overspend. So, £258 overspent now...

A very cold day here. snow has turned into very slippy ice!

A hold up with one of the searches is frustrating but solicitor said he will keep me informed...

  • These things happen DIA, try and be careful until payday.

  • Hey DIA - I know that feeling of the 'splurge monster attack', and the 'what the heck I am over-spent anyway'... what I am finally learning is, I can rein it back in and get back on the saddle.

That is the most important realisation for me - it doesn't have to be the start of a spiral downwards into debt mode. Or worse. It is a 'blip'. A bump in the road. A 'hiccup'. A moment of madness. A - well, you get the idea!  :D And it's even harder not to beat myself up. I am more forgiving - especially in what is happening all around us.... so be kind to yourself, dust yourself off, and hop straight back on the trotting budget horse....

  • Thanks @MovingForwards and @Irenadler :)

'back on the trotting budget horse' today...a NSD

I wanted to close a CU account that is very hard to access (you have to email or phone and they rarely answer) They talked me into leaving £5 in it so I might turn it into a Christmas savings account with just a small SO. Then it shouldn't matter as I should only need to access it once a year.

Everything is ready to pay off the CC in full tomorrow.

    Hope everyone is okay.

Would it be worth writing a list of everything you need to update when you move. It's easier to think when there's no date yet and one big task is ready to be done in a little tick off exercise.

    Well done on the NSD.
