Building savings to bubblewrap my new life.

If you buy sage, only have one plant as it settles in quickly and grows!
You're trying to do everything alone, it's hard going so do take time out to pamper, rest, read a book or something else not connected to selling / moving home.
Boots have to feel right and allow for more socks, otherwise they won't get worn.
Hope your burgers were nice 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks MF. The burgers were lovely.
It is hard to take pamper time when there is so much to do but yes, point taken.
I have a sage plant in the current herb plot. I love the stuff. So today £57.40 spent including £2.80 on fares and £2 on chocolate… £62 and my balance is £26 so £46 over balance. I’m going to keep logging spends despite failure as it gives me the basis of a realistic budget going forward.
I did buy an ink cartridge for £25, socks for £6 and toothbrush heads reduced from £20 to £10. Therefore £41 of the £62 was not food but I did say the January pot was for everything.
It was nice to get out in the sunshine and the ink cartridge is essential for other tasks (work related) I have been putting off.
Another bonus of getting out was my joints were all good, no pain at all.
I have a batch of stock on again. It will be leek and potato today and a smoked mackerel salad. I must admit to missing wine but a month off is no bad thing...
Hope everyone is having a good day

It's not a failure. You can only accurately work out your budget through trial and error.
Some things cost more, others less, and it's finding a comfortable balance and one you're happy with.
Enjoy your evening 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Good idea to keep logging the spending, even now I'm still often moving money between categories if I needed to spend a little more than expected.4

Money all spent on essentials DIA so don’t see it as a failure. The ink cartridge sounds expensive can you source a cheaper one for next time ? I have a separate pot for annual bills and would put money in that for things like ink cartridges so I don’t use my grocery budget. Thanks @MovingForwards and @atrixa I will keep logging spending and adjust the budget as necessary at the end of the month.
Thanks @Skint_yet_Again I seem to be a lot more food focused with lockdown! Good point about the ink cartridge. I just needed it so did not research. I will look into a cheaper source next timeIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Today is a NSD. It feels a relief not to spend. I did want a paper as sick of screens, but tomorrow will do.
I've done lots of cooking and a bit too much eating too.
I want to buy some containers online but I promised I wouldn't until contracts have been exchanged.
I have a few more boxes left in the garage to go through so that will be a good use of time.
Hoping everyone is okay.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

If you have any change in your purse, use that to buy a paper and leave plastic at home. You're then spending money already used / taken out.
Maybe look on local selling sites to see if people are giving away containers. Saves you money and it's environmentally friendly 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -

Ordering cardboard boxes that I will reuse. I don't have the energy or inclination to search for people giving away containers right now...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
