It's all about awareness and freeing money up, to pay for something else albeit tangible goods or savings. You're doing a great job of it.

+1 to what Babs says. It isn't the easiest thing to do, really examining where the money goes, but it does work. People on here have great tips and encouragement.
And now you are 'souped up' on soup power! I'll get my coat...."...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Hello Bubbles! Happy New Year, I havent been on much as work has been crazy. I have done a bit of reading of your diary and need to read it properly when things calm down. I kept a spending diary this year and noted down everything. Now i tend to only buy groceries and have really stopped frittering money away as i became a minimalist. It has helped me so much. I am living off £150 this month for food, travel and fun and i reckon it will be doable.
Good luck and sorry for late welcome. Happy New Year!!!Aiming for a minimal spend 20222 -

Thank you everyone for the Christmas and New Year positivity
@savingwannabe I am going to be living on £200 for food, travel and fun this month. (I've already committed £18 for an organic veg delivery so I know I won't be able to do £150)
The bad news is my EF has been emptied to buy a phone. That isn't really an emergency but I did not have a smart phone and I felt the need to become more connected and do things differently. I also wanted to monitor my spending more closely using an app. So the race is on to rebuild this pot before a genuine emergency occurs that I cannot pay for.
Today I did a small shop. I picked up lots of YS veggies so I can make soup. When I find the receipt I will take the spends away from my £200 for the month amount.

Maybe have a savings pot for maintenance costs and replacing things, plus another pot for your EF, then you're not dipping into your EF unless it is an emergency?
I wouldn't be without my smartphone as it really is like having a little computer in my bag with my different spreadsheets and other things.
Veggies and dried pulses etc make great soup and also fill out other meals. Your budget is sufficient to get you through the month 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Thanks MF. I definitely need to get pots sorted.
I had a smartphone in the past but changed to a dumb phone. Both have advantages and disadvantages but I need a smartphone now...
I had a NSD today and yesterday, but I spent on Saturday so I have £187 left of my £200 budget.
Today has been cold, dark, and damp. Yuk! It kept me inside but tomorrow I will get up and get out for a walk regardless. I miss my bike! The bike shop are not answering their phone. They are essential and were open through lockdown. I hope they haven't closed downI will walk there tomorrow to see what is going on.
I heard from the solicitor today about the house move. Many queries raised so that takes care of tomorrow as I have lots to sort and will need a trip to the PO to post documents.
I'm having soup. AGAIN. My soup addiction knows no bounds. Another plus with the glorious soup maker is it cuts down on my dishes and the kitchen is reasonably orderly...A soup maker. Who knew?

That's a nice budget for this month, plenty of veg and YS you'll get through with spare 🤗
Is there a H-lf0rds nearby or other bike shop, just in case? They could just be having a long Christmas break.
It's standard for loads of questions to be asked, the lists seem to get longer each year!
Soup is good, filling and so easy to do, enjoy it 😊Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
