I thought it was time for a bit of an update due to a big decision I have made today and time seems to have flown again.
Firstly I am delighted to say my son remains well and has now officially been signed off by his specialist, he's doing very well 🙂
Next... The mortgage.... So I have today switched product with my mortgage company... We had an early repayment charge (which has more than wiped out the remaining EF) but we will save lots... Gone from 2.64 to 0.89 fix for 5 years which saves us about 150 a month, ontop of this the money saved will be used to further reduce the mortgage balance and help with the snowball effect. So I know it is the right decision but it has left us in a very exposed position right now. I have a plan to get everything back to how it should be and start knitting the cosy blanket again. My head is very focused on this atm.
Mortgage OPs... I am trying to work out the best level for this. It will only resume once my accounts are in better order.
We have 2 birthdays this month and most things are already purchased for 1 and a set amount of money put aside for the other. I will be making cakes so little cost there.
Work - I'm still waiting on my promotion but lots of things are changing at work so hopefully that will help it along.
Pension - I'm still paying 10% to mine and we still need to get hubby's one sorted.
Insurance - I have canx some pet insurance which was costing a small fortune so will start putting that money in a pot so it can build.
Hope you are well.Mortgage Aug 2019 161,000 :eek::eek::eek:Nov 2019 156,500:T Jan 2020 153,122:T, Apr 2020 149,500, Apr2021 139, 675, Oct 2021 136,823, Dec 2021 136,120🙂EF 0/12,000 (0%)😕 (5062.44 was ERC), Jan 2023 128,650. So pleased to hear about DS, that's a huge weight off your shoulders.
The money saved on your new mortgage can start creating a more colourful blanket.
Fingers crossed for the promo and look for a good reg saver for the pet pot, the interest will help boost the fund.

Think of it as speculate to accumulate.
It makes perfect sense and we all do it, whether it's filling in comparison sites to find cheaper insurance or utilities. Going to a couple of different shops for groceries. Using savings to remortgage and save money.
Often we don't put a price on our time, we certainly use it when looking to save money, but never account for it.
Honesty, it's not silly, it's sensible and provided other security for a while 😊Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2
