I doubt I will give SP any meter readings if my switch stays on track I will give my new supplier an opening reading which they will pass onto SP as their closing reading
Am I right in thinking that?
Still not sure whether to cancel my SP DD they wont collect it till next month and my switch fingers crossed should be completed before then, so am I right in thinking as soon as my switch is complete I can cancel my DD and SP can only charge me the DD unit rate not going to save me a great deal but better in my pocket than SP's0 -
If your switch completes before SP wants to send your first bill, then there would be no need to provide any readings to SP directly, other than the opening reading for the transfer from YE.BedrockFred said:I doubt I will give SP any meter readings if my switch stays on track I will give my new supplier an opening reading which they will pass onto SP as their closing reading

Yes the new supplier passes it on subject to checks. Old supplier has 6 weeks to bill you.BedrockFred said:I doubt I will give SP any meter readings if my switch stays on track I will give my new supplier an opening reading which they will pass onto SP as their closing reading

This whole process has been an absolute shambles by SP, they seem incapable like British Gas when I got transferred from Breeze. Constantly copy and paste answers and slow cumbersome processes that need not be so clumbersome, whilst charging obscene rates.
The only thing that works better is the website as the British gas account was a slow, bug riddled mess and hugely overweight for what it did. But to counter that it did not take a MONTH between communications!
I have to repeat this process for my parents as well, they left ironically Scottish Power and British Gas for YE and despite my dad being in his 60's he loved YE's simple, back to basics approach and easy, efficient billing process whilst saving a packet in his rates! It took me months to get him to do it, he is clearly a fan now though of switching, as I have been harassed about who to go with, I doubt he will stay with Scottish power.

Yes exactly what I was saying, so I would be OK to cancel my DD when the switch completes and SP could only charge me the DD unit rates ?masonic said:

If a DD is not active at the point you are issued with your final bill, you may find they charge you on the non-DD tariff. You could ask them what their policy is on this if you really want to cancel it. They may stop taking payments once you have left. Information about my direct debit has disappeared from my online account as soon as they were aware I was leaving, so I will not be informed of payments and could reasonably reclaim them under the direct debit guarantee if I wished.BedrockFred said:

Just a thought.....
the meter readings supplied to SP had been fed through to YE (before the history was wiped from my YE account), so SP have them and must be happy with them, so why still aren't they showing as opening readings in my new SP account? SP are showing my meter numbers already, so it it further incompetence and/or delaying tactics by SP???......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

They may be waiting for them to go through the industry validation.GunJack said:the meter readings supplied to SP had been fed through to YE (before the history was wiped from my YE account), so SP have them and must be happy with them, so why still aren't they showing as opening readings in my new SP account? that's my point....with them showing (albeit briefly) in the YE account, surely that would imply industry validation had taken place.....phillw said:

I don’t understand how people are already checking SP accounts, I didn’t get so much as an email confirmation when I filled in the form.
I was previously an SP customer in Feb 2020 and can log into that account but there’s no link to this current mess.0 -
because we (in most instances) phoned their dedicated ex-YE customer helpline, or used the ref.no. on the newly-created direct debit at your bank (if you supplied said details in response to the 7 Dec e-mail SP sent) as the account number and set up a SP account with it.Bossworld said:I don’t understand how people are already checking SP accounts, I didn’t get so much as an email confirmation when I filled in the form.
