Another of Britain's retail energy groups is in emergency talks to avert its collapse, underlining the growing crisis in a sector facing a wave of bad debts because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sky News has learnt that Yorkshire Energy, which is understood to have roughly 75,000 gas and electricity customers, has been working with advisers to raise additional funding.
Sources said that while there remained an outside chance of the company securing new financial backing, Yorkshire Energy could be the latest supplier to have its customer base transferred to a larger rival.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Hope they survive, I found them good and would happily return to them.0

God -hope this isn't the first of the next wave of supplier failures as we had in 2018 !!0

What do you mean the first of the next wave? 4 suppliers have exited the market in the last 3 months....brewerdave said:God -hope this isn't the first of the next wave of supplier failures as we had in 2018 !!
They're up for sale (Someone managed to leak the sale document to Sky...) and if they do exit, won't be through SoLR. Making the progress to move suppliers a lot easier.
I spotted this on Thursday and contacted them, apparently the reason is because of "IT issue with quote tool in our system and they're working on it to get it fixed."
I think it's a lot more likely that they've just stopped taking on new customers due to a deal being completed, so they can just move customers over straight away without having to worry about ones switching over. I'd expect we will hear more in the next couple of weeks.

I read my meters on Sunday and within 15 minutes my bill was available to view and download so website for me is still working normally. Just hope Yorkshire Energy don't fail as they are a good company.0

They'll likely try to sell the company to an investor but are more likely to just sell off the customer base to the highest bidder.0 -
It'll be a shame as they are one the few that I've renewed with and I've always had good service from them...fingers crossed nothing will change before the winters out as I'm on a good fix until March.0
