It'll be a shame as they are one the few that I've renewed with and I've always had good service from them...fingers crossed nothing will change before the winters out as I'm on a good fix until March.
Likewise. I've been very impressed with YE and would hate to see them go. What a shame (though hardly a surprise) that the government is just standing back and watching as the big companies hoover-up the entire market. Still, governments like that kind of thing - it's much easier to control.

Hope it's a sell-off, as then the buyer will have to honour the T&C's and prices of the existing contracts - If it goes down the Supplier of Last Resort route we're stuck with whatever the new suppliers offer

Sad news. As a serial switcher, I found Yorkshire Energy by far one the best supplier we have been with. Accurate and timely billing, and no hassle with ridiculous and shifts in direct debit payments. My 49 day switch window was due in January, for the right deal I would happily have stuck with them.
Fingers crossed, don't let it be EON.

Sadly, Ofgem says it's the SoLR route.
    Great shame, Yorkshire were good.

Ofgem advises YE customers to take a reading today and keep a record.

There's a phrase in our house for such disasters....
    F***, S***, B******, B*******!!!!!
(fill in the asteriks ;) )
Switching to YE was simple, seamless, and service has been great on the 2 occasions I've called them about something....really sad they're done for :'( especially as I'd built up my winter buffer balance....

    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I'm assuming under SoLR, I can still switch in January, when I reach the final 49 days of my fixed term of YE account? I'm guessing that any new supplier will just dump us on the Standard Variable?

Edit: I've just read the SoLR Guidance on Ofgem's site. The new supplier needs to write to us once appointed, advising they are our new supplier under deemed contract. They confirm their rates, and advise that we can switch. God know what the timescales are for all this.

  • Saturday 5th December Ofgem will say which company will take over our Yorkshire Energy accounts. Our Tariff ends and we move onto a Deemed Tariff which more than likely will be more expensive. There will be no exit fees so we can switch as soon as we are live on this Deemed Tariff I presume. Done a quick comparison on CAB on dual fuel and the cheapest tariff in my Yorkshire area is Outfox the Market fixed 20 19.0 followed by Utility Point then PFP. Anyone like to comment on which companies that you are looking at to switch to?. Electric and Gas only tariffs will be compared later tonight.
