As I have an hour before I need to go into school, I was hoping to do some research and initiate a switch.  Could some of the more learned people here advise me whether or not now is a good time to look?  In short: looking for an economy 7 electricity only tariff.  In credit of c£200 with YE but have paid nothing since 29th November so SP will probably have used that up.  Thanks in advance
There isn't much point doing the research now if you aren't going to start a switch now. The situation is very fluid with tariffs changing regularly. I don't think you'll have any luck switching until SP is listed as your supplier.
That's what I thought, but it is frustrating seeing deals coming and going that I can take up due to how slow SP have been.

Your post reminded me to check again as no change first thing this morning, but now shows SP.

Spoke to SP and asked when my cooling off period ended and they said the 1st December!
What is everyone doing, when can we switch, my gas is with them but electricity still not going to be sorted for another 3 weeks. I am so disappointed with all this. Got to be backhanders for them to be giving us such a rubbish deal.

Very disappointed with how this has been handled. Scottish Power have put me on a Tarif called Energy Exclusive which you cannot select this Tariff on the Cheap Energy Club to do a comparison
As already mentioned more than once, it really doesn't matter. Just pick any valid tariff from any supplier, and switch to the cheapest recommendation in the report that you're happy with. The "saving" figure is academic unless you really need to know how exactly much SP would rip you off.

It might be worth someone updating the first post on the first page that people can reference to. I don't have time to go through 92 pages to find out advice.
If I change supplier then SP could reject the change and then what happens to my large credit I had with YE?

  • AS posted by Bagand96 in the other thread a link to the tariff we have been put on by SP
    https://web-content.scottishpower.co.uk/files/pdf/solr/Energy-Exclusive-Pricing-Leaflet-Dec20.pdf
I am very tempted to cancel my DD with SP as the price difference per unit is small and standing charges the same
I don't want to be associated with SP who IMHO have been very poor keeping us updated I have ha no contact other than the original email and the welcome aboard email
  • Scottish Power have put me on a Tarif called Energy Exclusive which you cannot select this Tariff on the Cheap Energy Club to do a comparison, it is not visible and I cannot find what tariff is closest to it so when I am doing a comparison I cannot get a fair one as my Tarif still says Yorkshire Energy tariff that I was on.

Use the Citizens Advice Bureau for price comparison. They do have the SP Energy Exclusive  so you can do a fair comparison.

Thank you, is it the energy exclusive or energy exclusive online tariff we are on?

Finally gas is now showing on the DB as being with Scottish Power (6 days after the electricity).  So whenever the update happened the database has only just been refreshed as Ichecked this morning.  Good luck for others now waiting.  At least it shows that changes are indeed happening albeit at a pace that feels incredibly slow.  Accounts still look as they they are not finalised - with opening reads not showing yet!
