Credit balances will be transferred to SP. It is unlikely the administrators will be able to use the existing YE DD to collect debit balances, but even if they can, there are other ways to pay.DJ_Mike said:
Reading the e-mail again, the part where it says "please don't cancel your Direct Debit with Yorkshire Energy as this will be used to settle the final bill they send you" sounds like maybe that is for accounts in debit only. Are they still going to move credit from YE to SP?dreamypuma said:Leave it. There is already credit. If they can't get their collective heads around it, then tough.

From what I can gather SP will refund / honour any YE credit. I would expect that between them, they would reconcile anything owed to YE using the credit.DJ_Mike said:

Maybe that's just too simple. As far as I'm concerned the credit is there. SP and YE's Administrator just need to get their act together. My farts hospitalize small children

The administrators are managing the bank accounts, I don't see what would prevent them using a DD that was still active to recover debts.masonic said:

My YE account is up to date my bill was produced on the 05/12/20 so my understanding is SP should have a credit balance of over £200 now should I cancel my DD with SP and expect them to take the first (and final bill) from that credit and pass on the outstanding balance to me by way of a cheque0

If you're undergoing an Insolvency Event, please let us know as soon as possible. Unfortunately we're not able to process payments for companies with this type of status, so we'll need to suspend your account pending further updates about your company."

Otherwise you can reduce the amount that is paid through your online account.Note that you will lose the ability to adjust your DD when you start a switch away from SP - I don't know if it will continue to be collected.

I got the email and it could mean in a roundabout way they are going to start sending the packs out so we will hopefully be able to start a move shortly.

Great news! I applied to switch to Green.energy on 30 December. The switch was initially rejected the same day, so they re-applied the next day and quoted 7 January as the live date. It has gone through! Western Power Distribution shows Green Energy Supply as my supplier. All along I expected a problem. My gas supply goes live with Green.energy on 16 January. I don't know how they managed to switch my electricity over in 7 days though.2

That is indeed good news - hope you packed your escape documents and make it to the Swiss border intact and away from SP. I really don't know what to make of it all though with different people having different responses from the same provider. In fact the Escape Committee operating out of hut 2 are no thinking are resurrecting some or all of the escape tunnels, Tom (Neon Reef), !!!!!! (Zog) and Harry (Avro).gsmh said:Great news!
