De_energize said:Here is an illustration of what can go wrong if you attempt to switch too early. I initiated a switch after Yorkshire ceased trading, but before Scottish Power was appointed as the SOLR. Having only a small balance with Yorkshire, I thought I may as well give it a go. Will probably get my remaining balance eventually I thought. The switch to the new outfit, dual fuel Gas and Electricity, successfully completed very promptly on the 23rd December with the national database for electricity updating to the new suppler from Daisy almost immediately, and gas a couple of days later. Scottish Power never showed up as my suppler on the national databases. I now wonder if this is significant? Hooray, I thought, I'm safe! What do you think? Five days later I received a "Sorry to see you go", e-mail from the new suppler for the gas account. They had received a switch-to request from, wait for it...........Scottish Power! Another Five days later (yesterday) and Scottish Power attempted to "steal" my electricity supply in the same way. Fortunately the new supplier was easy to get in touch with and they have put a stop on both switches. I would not be pleased if these went through as, apart from anything else, it would cost me £60.00 in early termination feesOne of the problems may have been that I have been a customer of Scottish Power"s in the past. I was still able to log into my account and I am shown as switching to a new contract with them, going live on the 18th Jan. I also received the email in December that others have mentioned, asking for meter readings, which I provided, as I will owe them a small amount for the 16 days or so that they were providing me with power as the SOLR. My fear is that they may make another attempt at taking over my power and I will have to go through this whole rigmarole again, and again, and again. Has this happened to anyone else I wonder? Incidentally the chat operator from my new suppler, told me I am not the only one, and Scottish Power has been attempting to switch others who they ever had an account with, back over to them. Am wondering whether to contact Scottish Power, or if trying to do this might just be complicated, and or, complicate matters, or to just wait and see what happens? Isn't life exciting?Your post makes interesting reading. I and my neighbour are in the same position almost. We too, were customers who moved away immediately YE ceased trading. The only difference is purely personnel in as much as we chose to go with different suppliers ie British Gas & Neon Reef. We became fully fledged customers of BG on 25th December and Neon Reef on 28th December. I have to say response etc., was superb from both suppliers during the switch.Yesterday, we received an email from Neon Reef saying they were sorry to see we were moving to SP. I immediately responded saying that was not the case and they have written to SP informing them of the up to date position. There has been no contact from British Gas, so I am assuming SP haven't approached them yet or even if they intend to. Like you, I know I owe SP money for the short time I was with them, but if they want to be paid, they will have to contact me as they don't have any bank details. I also had a very small credit balance with YE.

Had a useful chat with SP earlier. My account is open despite the zero balance, the final YE account is being billed shortly/refunds made (??) and got a quote from a new fixed SP tariff, super saver January 2022. Still not competitive enough for me so initiated a switch to Green Energy exclusive green v4 through MSE Energy Club today. Tic tok, lets see what/when things develop

I went with Octopus, they were hardly any cheaper, but I picked up a referral from the refferer's board so will be getting a £50 bill credit on joining. That will offset the extra costs I've faced through this affair. Looks like you can start to refer people immediately on starting your switch too, and there are no exit fees.
I don't know how the figures work out for you...0 -
locky123 said:My SP account shows Energy Exclusive, no online version. I used to be with SP so did not have to create a new account and always was non-paperless. Are there two different SP Energy Exclusive tariffs? If so what dictates what one is chosen?
I got through on the phone and got this information.Electricity 21.76 per day, 16.115 per unit.Gas 23.33 per day, 2.701 per unit.0 -
macgyver said:1) PFP: Saves me £190/yr. Very cheap tariff similar to YE, so not sure if they can survive
2) Symbio energy. Saves me 140 but poor feedback with billing
3) Neon Reef. Saves me 135. Feedback ok. Looking good
Tempted to go for PFP but sounds risky. Any suggestions please....
If they go under then I'd have something to distract me from the outside world.
It depends on how you cost your time.

Had problems logging onto SP account today, just tried again and logs on but now no option to add meter readings either on website or app.
Just seen that it says sorry to see you go at the top on website after it says Hi..., which wasnt clear on first sight. Cant see the same on the app.
So lets hope my electric switch will still proceed.0 -

Thanks Masonic, Although I do worry about the prices on the citizen's advice comparison tool, as when compared the unit prices on the "Avro Simple and mSuperSaver12M" tarriff, with the mse energycub or moneysupermarket, unit prices, its priced lower giving an extra £93 off my result. even though its exactly he same tarriff. and i made sure all my usage numbers matched ect....

Slinky said:Well as I expected, the transfer back to Scottish Power (who were my last but 2 supplier), has resulted in them transposing my economy 7 meter readings. I banged my head against a brick wall with them before about this, switched away to Ebico, they were worse than useless also, I had to take it to the ombudsman before the transposition was sorted. Everything was OK with Yorkshire Energy, but SP have screwed it up.Given that we have gas central heating, and only use overnight electric to run the washing machine and dishwasher because it's cheap, I'd be quite happy paying nighttime rates during the day and switch back to running my machines in the day. Should I bother chasing them about it?The previous owner had the E7 meters in. However I don't think they realised they were being billed incorrectly for years, as they seemed to be running their immersion heater on night time rates in the summer.Well I had a reply from SP saying they had input my readings in line with the previous ones and they were now X and Y, which was the wrong way round still. I sent them copies of my opening reads, a copy of my last bill from YE, and two lots of readings 4 hours apart as they requested, and finally, they've managed to sort the readings out.So now I need to look at finding a better deal elsewhere.Has anybody got a proper gas meter read on their account yet?Make £2025 in 2025

Could I ask what Avro tariff people are signing up to. When going direct to Avro the only tariff quote available is the 'Simple and Superpremium'. The Citizens Advice compare lists several cheaper alternate Avro tariffs but not sure where you apply for these. Guess it may be out of date possibly and they have subsequently been withdrawn.0

The best tariffs are often available only from comparison sites because energy companies don't want to cannibalise their own customers ! British Gas is the worst example of this; the tariffs on the BG website are cripplingly expensive. Their cheapest are with a separate company, British Gas Evolve. Loyalty doesn't pay, you have to be a rate tart.0
