Given nobody else has reported issues with their switches, I've taken the plunge today and started mine. Will report any problems, but I'm fairly confident there won't be any.
Good luck!  My electricity switch to Green has just been rejected for the second time since the National Powergrid database started showing my supplier as SP on 30 December.  I'll ask Green to try yet again, but I'm not holding my breath.
Oh dear, that doesn't bode well.
On checking my SP account this morning I see the "We're sorry to see you go." message for my electricity only account, so that at least is looking encouraging.
My new supplier states "Passed industry checks: The industry has checked that it has all the information needed to switch supplier and if that information is correct (to its knowledge)."
Where was the message showing from SP as I've not got any messages like that on my account yet? Who did you go with?  In the end I went with Simplicity (as it was about the cheapest fixed deal supplier that seemingly didn't have dire reviews...although I'm not keen on their £50 per utility exit fee). Fingers crossed it's not out of the 🍳 and into the 🔥
It's shown at the top in large font, above account number and supply address. I went with Octopus, they were hardly any cheaper, but I picked up a referral from the refferer's board so will be getting a £50 bill credit on joining. That will offset the extra costs I've faced through this affair. Looks like you can start to refer people immediately on starting your switch too, and there are no exit fees. They also have very good customer service and quick responses to emails according to the reviews, so if anything goes wrong because of the SoLR oddities I'll hopefully be able to sort it out easily.
  • Had enough of all this so this morning I have applied to switch to Avro energy saves some money it's fixed a tariff but one of the biggest reasons is no exit fees and well rated for customer satisfaction
Hopefully come spring there will be some better deals about
Will keep you informed of the out come

    Developments....

I submitted 31 Dec readings to SP and have just been on the account and have a bill and a new balance of -£90.16.  Weirdly the Electric is about £80 but the Gas is only £5.75 (plus VAT of £4 ish)...only wish I really only use £5 worth of Gas in December 😂  Says it's for period 6-31 Dec. Unfortunately PDF version is still pending so can't see actual meter readings that they are using...but it's progress of a sorts.

Edit: My energy usage for Electric is showing but not Gas yet so I reckon Gas figure above is just the SC (23p x 25 days = £5.75 so about right).  Also from the Electric usage I can work out they've used my 30 Nov figure I supplied to YE as starting figure and not the one I supplied on 7Dec in response to their email. The calc of the total for Elec does seem to agree with the expected unit rate and SC based on that usage.

Also they have the DD down as due to be taken on 1 Feb
This is one of the reasons I've only done what SP have asked for and no more.

Keep in mind nobody has been invited to register for accounts yet, but people have been able to by either taking the account number from the DD or getting it from SP.

It could be that by setting up your account, and then entering meter readings on the 31st that has auto - generated a bill.

But with the SoLR from YE it might be that the data isn't all in place yet properly yet, so the bill that's been auto generated is skewed. Just becomes another issue to sort out.

I'm not giving them anymore meter readings until the account is active with the 7th December reading as my opening. (that reading did show in my YE account before the took away access to the readings, so SP must have it and have passed it on)
  • I'm thinking of initiating a switch today, although I cannot find the "Energy Exclusive Online" tariff on the mse energyclub dropbox, to compare?...

It really doesn't matter what you choose for your existing tariff, just note the absolute amount of savings calculated may differ slightly. I'd recommend using the citizen's advice comparison tool. It seems to cover more tariffs and does include the Energy Exclusive Online tariff.

Obviously if you're not planning on staying long it may work out better to do it for the cashback, but if prices don't fall and you stay there longer, you might be better off with cheaper rates.
Thanks. I hadn't considered that going direct could be cheaper, are there any other suppliers who do that? It's 62.9 a year more expensive going through a comparison site, which means I'll need to switch in 6 months to make it worth while.

I spoke with Scottish Power this morning to say it was difficult is an understatement and frankly this lack of communication seems commonplace with Scottish Power in all of the complaints I am seeing.

To have received no communication since the 7th December 2020 is an absolute joke. The only way I have found information is via here, my online banking or via the industry databases to find out when they took the supply over!

They have stated I should wait until the account is fully open to initiate a switch, which leaves some muddy waters as checking online they are both my gas and electricity supplier. But then in deeper discussion said they have no problem with initiating a switch to another provider and critically would not BLOCK a switch!
Therefore I have initiated the switch to Avro, lets see what happens, Avro currently reckon I can be free by 26th Jan.

My SP account shows Energy Exclusive, no online version. I used to be with SP so did not have to create a new account and always was non-paperless. Are there two different SP Energy Exclusive tariffs? If so what dictates what one is chosen?
My electric switch only to Neon Reef started on 1/1 is still progressing afaik.  Their email stated that they would contact after 9 days for an update.
I'm also helping an elderly neighbour switch away from YE/SP, but their gas is still showing as YE on the database. They also had a SP account and their account is live showing Energy Exclusive. Is it still best to wait til the gas database shows SP?

As per several other ex-YE posters here, both gas and electricity are now showing Scottish Power so I've decided to go ahead and chance a transfer.
In my case I've decided to go with Outfox The Market with a 1 year fixed deal with zero exit charges so I've got certainty of cost but can get out if prices go down.
Hopefully my biggest issue now will be getting Santander to recognise them for the energy cashback on our 123 account - their cashback checker doesn't seem to show them :/
