rmtucker said:Wow I started looking for another supplier just in case SP ever switch me.
And looked at avro and got a quote.
But in the quote it mentions they take the first DD, 12 days after signing up to the Tarrif.
But as far as I am aware there is a 14day cooling off period before they can initiate a switch to them.
SO in a nutshell they want to take money from my bank before I am a customer!!!!!!!
HOW CAN THAT EVEN BE LEGAL
What if I change my mind on day 13 or the switch was rejected.
Then again will SP ever switch me to them anyway
What a load of b******t.Wow indeed.I can't say I've ever seen such an over reaction with shouty capitals and swearing to a take it or leave it quote that is common practice in the energy market. Maybe we're being trolled or it's just a good idea to lay of the chocolate liquors for a while.0 -
One of my previous providers (can't remember which one) set up a DD and took the first payment in the minimum possible time for a new DD set up. Surprised they didn't take debit card details so they could do it even quickerrmtucker said:
Yeah 21days is common not 12 days !!!!!!masonic said:
It's not uncommon for the cheaper providers to require advanced payment to cover usage over the following month. Your switch will probably complete only a week or so after the payment is taken.rmtucker said:Wow I started looking for another supplier just in case SP ever switch me.

As you now know from masonic's edits, you've been referring to historic rules that no longer apply. Just because you had a problem with failed transfers doesn't mean it was due to this no longer existent rule! Did you ever investigate why, maybe your current supplier was blocking it, maybe your then current supplier was not showing on the relevant national database, all sorts of possibilities.[Deleted User] said:Wow been a long time since anyone accused me of regurgitating rubbish but there you go. My thanks to Masonic for a very thorough reply so I'll not regurgitate his rebuttal. Can I just say for the record that my personal experience of being caught up in a SOLR switch (Breeze to British Gas) in December 2019 and the time it took to transfer away to YE made me acutely aware that the normal timeframe for a switch goes out the window somewhat. And that was in a non-covid era. So to Phones4Chris, I can give you dates of when I was finally able to initiate an unrejected transfer to YE earlier this year (but I think you have enough reading to be getting on) so I'll just go and regurgitate off and get my monthly meter reads done.
I won't get upset if you regurgitate your apologies

Not at all sure why you feel that I would need to apologise. You now seem to be making a point of flaming me. Please stop this bullying and desist what are now feeling like personal attacks. Thank you.Phones4Chris said:

What absolute bull. You essentially claimed in the quoted post that I was wrong by you referring to a rebuttal by masonic which he's since edited, to show it was all historic. You haven't since said that I was correct so I am merely pointing out (in two threads because your posts about this appear in two threads), that your "accusation" was wrong. My remark about apologies was tongue in cheek.DerwentMailman said:

Your further accusations of "flaming, bullying and personal attacks" are defamatory and will result in your posts being reported if such accusations persist. You were wrong, there is no 28 days, get over it!.

Their website says the wider group is closing soon and asks for postcode and account number. It then says my account number which I got from my direct debit isn't a valid electricity account. Never mind, it would have been nice as a one off but fingers crossed we will be able to jump ship before march anyhow.pallyman said:

LOL have you never paid upfront for anything before, should you change your mind it would be returned 12 days is fine and as you found out they are being upfront and make it very clearrmtucker said:Wow I started looking for another supplier just in case SP ever switch me.

Lots of posts on here now detracting from the main issue
lets keep on track and discuss YE SP SoLR please0 -
Paid upfront for Yorkshire Energy, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

I hope my new one does, otherwise I'm going to need another direct debit to meet the requirements for that account.masonic said:

I'm kicking myself I didn't ignore the advice as all the deals are rubbish now. Avro on quidco with no exit fee is going to be my holding tariff. Not being able to plug the scottish power tariff on any comparison website means I'm leaving blind, but as scottish power haven't even emailed me so I can get online then I'm pretty sure I don't want to be with them.

Hope that this is indeed the case and that you are not rejected - you will be the canary for many. As of now, I am still registered as being a customer of Daisy/YE for gas but electric has gone over to SP. If you do get rejected when both have been transferred then obviously something else is going on that nobody has forseen.Shedman said:I'll hopefully find out the answer to that one soon as I initiated a switch on the 1st once both utilities were updated and showing on the database as now being SP. I guess if it's rejected I'll hear early next week.0
