Been looking at available electric tariffs using cheapenergyclub, which switch and citizens advice. They seem to compare apart from the Green tariffs that are not the same and not as shown on the Green website quote. Symbio still cheapest but Neon Reef 1 is next with better reviews on Trustpilot. Still about a 10% price increase from YE Whitby. Will have to wait and see what's available in 2 weeks.

  • I can claim warm home discount for the first time as SP criteria for the wider group are looser than other firms. It won't let me apply with my account number though, maybe because my account isn't properly set up yet. It says ending soon, has anyone else been able to claim from them?

It would offset 3 months of the hike in price for me, so worth doing if I can.

According to the Gov website the Warm home discount is available for electric and gas on bills from September to March for people receiving pension credit or low income . My mum got it and on her prepayment keys put £100 for her gas and £40 for her electric using a voucher credit. Not all companies do it but luckily my mums one does ,it more than offsets the higher prices she pays on prepayment rates , factoring this into my calculations means it's not worth her getting a credit meter although she is probably better off with a smart meter and a DD to save her going up the shops.

Now I've read through the SP broader terms for WHD rather than the 5th July inclusion date that meant my mother received a credit voucher automatically from her supplier Edf , WHD must be applied for between June 2020 and November 2020 or such other date as specified online by SP with the ten year long scheme due to end in March 2021.

The transfer request I did yesterday seems to have gone through as Avro have today sent me login details and a welcome pack saying the switch will happen on 20th Jan and the first payment will be taken on 11th Jan!  My Gas as of now still says Daisy though, but it seems ot have gone through anyway.

My past experience of starting a switch too early is that everything seems ok for the first few days, then an email came in saying the switch can't be completed. Hopefully you'll be lucky, but let us know if you have any issues.
If you are still on track on Monday evening, I might try my luck ;)

Honestly, I don't think you will have a problem.  Seems to be exactly the same as my transfer thus far.  Good luck.

My Gas is still with Daisy but elec is with SP  on the DB
If I start a switch now will it go through, not sure it will and as I have over £200 in credit at YE I really don't want to lose that
With that amount of credit how would I stand cancelling my DD with SP
This whole SoLR is an utter shambles

There is no risk to your credit balance should your switch be rejected. The only risk is that a failed switch exposes your credit file to a potential extra credit search, and it may take you longer overall to leave SP if your first switching attempt fails.

Ah so may be worth being a little patient to get a better chance of getting a switch, don't want to delay my switch away
