On the day after YE ceased trading and the information was forthcoming that SP were going to be my supplier, I thought not a chance in hell of my hard earned cash going to them. So despite posters advising against it, I, along with my neighbour initiated a switch. We found , on this occasion, that using 2 different suppliers worked well for us so that's what we did. The switch using British Gas (Evolve) and Neon Reef for the electricty has been staggeringly easy. Emails from both Suppliers telling us of how far we were along in the process have been frequent and spot on. I await with baited breath the account from Scottish power for the short time I have received supply from them. So pleased we took a chance.

on the 6th december i was 121.6337 in credit with YP, now with SP and no payments being taken i am 9.33101 in credit. i shall begin the new year by owing money to SP, something which has never happened before. i use a spreadsheet and read my meter every day so i know down to the penny how much i spend. this waiting for SP to get there act together is just stupid, why does it take so long to switch. a not very happy customer here too might and to top the lot , the snow is melting.0

I would have just gone for a switch straight away but took the advice from here that I should wait. I am not waiting any longer, going to request the switch now.alpaco47 said:Do you think it's still possible even at this stage? The quicker I can move from SP the better.
Give it a go. We adopted the attitude of if it works, it works, if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world. Like Ewokuk says, we haven't entered into any contract with SP and OFGEM are supposed to be on our side - fat chance!!!Gerry1 said:sallysaver said:For what it's worth, here is my experience with YE/SP. I , like most others only knew of YE demise by the SP email. I was £5 in credit with YE and they were due to take the DD for £21 on 15th December for my supplied meter reading on 1st December, I cancelled the DD and sent a meter reading to SP which shows on my YE account for 5th December customer read, I did not give them my DD information. My YE account is still active and accessable with the exception of leaving a meter read. Having investigated SP on Trust pilot and found them wanting I , against the advice of some on here ,I immediately instigated a switch to Neon Reef, with the exception of the first email from SP I have heard nothing since. Neon reef have regularly sent me updates on my switch, I have an account number and have just submitted my opening read today 29th December, unlike SP. Whether the switch to Neon reef will fail to happen on 3rd January I don't know but it is better to try and fail than waiting for SP at our expense to pull their thumb out of their ..........

M ySP online account has let me in.....but still no updated movement - despite the readings of 6 Dec showing on my YE account, the switch tracker on SP is still at needing readings
It's going to be almost 2 months at best at this rate before I can get away from them...

I will be more than surprised if NR don't come up trumps. My switch over date for BG was the 25th Dec and on that very day I got an email from them saying switch was successful and welcome. My switch over date for Neon Reef was the 28th December and exactly the same thing happened. To be perfectly honest, I have been pretty amazed that everything that BG & NR said would happen, has happened, in fact so much so, I'm quietly waiting for the fireworks especially from SP.

Just looked on the database, it says:Your electricity network operator is Electricity North WestI was rather expecting it to be YE or SP for both of them? I've not initiated any sort of transfer since joining YE at the start of the year. Any ideas? Thanks
Your gas network operator is Cadent
