I have heard nothing more from them since that initial email on Dec 7th  but my SP direct debit has been set up. Am I right in thinking that they are required to give notice before collecting the first payment?
They are supposed to. However, I logged into my online account to see they are planning to take my first payment on 22nd (and I only was able to do so because I guessed the reference was my new SP account number and was able to register using it). Perhaps they'll argue that it is a continuation of the agreement we had with YE, although I don't think that would stand up to being challenged. This could be a way for those with large credit balances to claw back a month's worth, though it would be best not to cancel the DD entirely.
just logged into mine, DD set for 25th (as per YE) but cannot find any of the tariff unit costs & standing charges..... after the simplicity of YE (and Bulb before them) SP's website is utter $..... (something that rhymes with site ;) )
Yes both Bulb and YE had very nice sites and a great billing system. Don't expect SP to measure up on those fronts! I suppose it has been a good few posts since this link has been posted, so here you go: https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/gas-and-electricity/our-tariffs
Second one on the list, "Energy Exclusive Online", click the "View Tariff Information Labels" link and enter your postcode and supply details.
yes, I had got to that page anyway and it still doesn't show the tariff rates, but thanks
Yes it does. You just need to click the "View Tariff Information Labels" link and enter your postcode and supply details, and you'll be provided with a list of tariff rates for all of the tariffs on sale. You just need to click the 'view' button next to Energy Exclusive Online.
I have the same problem - I enter my postcode and other details and get a list of 11 tariffs, plus zillions more labelled "Tariffs no longer available for sale", but none of them called Energy Exclusive Online.

Very odd.  I tried to check if they have the right postcode, but when I log into my account, it addresses me by name but gives me no way of checking if my details are right.  And the FAQ link takes me to a 404 error.

Has anybody who had already left YE, but have a credit balance to come back, heard a peep from SP?
Nope. I was in credit for around £270. Still awaiting my final bill which would use up almost £130 for 3 months of electricity (my YE bills were quarterly - unlike most on here who seem to say that they received a bill monthly). The credit I was putting towards winters storage heater costs with my new supplier. 4 weeks tomorrow now and have no clue if / when I'll receive a final bill.

I've also called and provided my details to Scottish Power. They had no record of me in their database from YE

They issued my final bill and today I supposed to receive my remaining credit. Nothing came to the account and no sign of SP at all in my email.

It looks like the tariff has now been removed from the list. It was definitely there up to the 22nd, but gone today.

Energy Exclusive is on the list you get when using Citizens Advice comparison tool (and probably others as well but I haven't checked) If you want to view it just select SP as your provider then Energy Exclusive online or the non-online option if that's what you're looking for, put in usage details - which can be anything you like if you just want to view - and then just select any provider and tariff that comes up on the list, click 'next steps' and go to  'tariff information', and the SP Energy Exclusive details will be on the left hand side.

It's not on the MSE comparison tool, but given the number of cheap tariffs I've noticed are missing from there it is probably best to use the Citizens Advice tool when planning a switch.

I guess it varies by postcode when and if the tariff shows.  It was not there for my postcode when I checked a week ago.

  • Still nothing from SP, my DD for SP is due tomorrow so i guess I will see it sometime next week. Going on comparison sites Green is coming up as the cheapest for me,

Daily standing charge 25p  day 13.25p and night 10.34p which works out £184.00 cheaper than SP, but it's the standing charge which is far more expensive, I was only paying YE 0.07091p per day, maybe this was one reason they went belly up

My DD has been set up according to both my bank and my SP account, but they haven't given a reference (account number) to my bank, so I don't see how that is going to work.  According to my SP account the DD is to be paid on the 22nd of the month, but nothing taken so far.  And nothing from SP since their email of 7 December.

The sooner I can move away from SP the more comfortable I will be.
