Mine was just two days later than the YE DD, but it also coincides with the earliest collection date possible based on the date I spotted it in online banking.spot1034 said:Out of interest, to those of you who have found out the date of your direct debit, is this anywhere near the day of the month your YE payment was taken?

But I have already set up a DD with SP (two in fact) and it shows in my online banking which SP are welcome to use to take anything I owe them.masonic said:
This is a good point, and means that even if you have seen this in your online account, you can genuinely say you have not been informed about a December payment and would be entitled to reclaim it under the DD Guarantee. Keeping the DD active would be advisable though to ensure you are on the discounted tariff for your first SP bill.BedrockFred said:I have over £200 of credit with YE would I be within my right to cancel the DD without being put on a more expensive tariffI have cancelled the DD with YE as I am £140 in credit with them, well enough to pay my final bill. I don't want them taking another DD instead of taking payment from my credit. Then I'll only have to worry about getting my remaining YE balance of £90 or so from SP. I'm assuming this won't be a problem with getting the best SP rate, as I will be paying them by DD.0 -
SP are entitled to take a monthly payment from you using the DD whether you currently owe them anything or not, but they should give you notice of your payment schedule. If they do not, you are entitled to reclaim any payments taken without you having been informed under the DD Guarantee, and this can be done without cancelling the DD mandate. Being entitled to make a claim does not mean you should exercise that right, it may be an appropriate course of action if you have already built up a large credit balance soon to be transferred to SP that will cover all of your energy used while you are with them. I personally will not be doing that, as my credit balance is modest. It may form a part of a complaint I make in the future, depending on how things go from here. My aim is to escape SP ASAP, and if that goes smoothly then I will not be making any fuss. Of course I do not yet know whether a payment will be taken tomorrow, but I don't have long to wait to find out.steveg872 said:

Hi there, looking for some help was with YE and owe them a small amount which should have been covered on next bill in January. Have not canceled direct debit with YE and followed instructions form SP to give them payment details meter reading etc. Not heard anything else from either supplier, getting a bit worried now. Also is there a way to set up or log in SP?0

Check your online banking to see if SP has set up a new direct debit.Kevin_Blackstone said:Hi there, looking for some help was with YE and owe them a small amount which should have been covered on next bill in January. If YES, the reference number for that will enable you to logon to your SP account via registering using your email and that reference as the account number.
If NO I'd suggest getting in contact with SP direct.2 -

For me, it appears Scottish Power's tariff (perhaps post code specific) is:
Electricity
21.27p per day
16.393p per kWh
Gas23.33p per day
2.729p per kWh
Ouch!
Fortunately I ignored OFGEM's advice to sit tight and not switch.
My switch to another supplier completed today.3 -
When did you first apply to transfer supplies? Possibly you found that very narrow window between the news that YE was ceasing to trade and the Ofgem official notice that supplies were being taking over from 6th Dececember. Gas and Electric supply databases still showing as being provided by YE for my supply today!SnowTiger said:
