Check your T&C's with YE, there's probably a clause in there that says they can pass details to assignees or anyone else who needs to know or may take over the companyNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I'm pretty sure GDPR allows for use of your data necessary to fulfill a contract or business function with you, so I think they are OK passing the data over under GDPR, as you were a customer of YE and are now a customer of SP (though without any say in the matter).

I intend to switch as soon as possible want nothing to do with " an independent nation"You may want nothing to do with "an independent nation", but the fact remains the UK left the EU at 11 pm on 31st January 2020, so you will have to make do with regulatory alignment and the Data Protection Act 2018, which carries an exemption of data processing "for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party". The passing of your data to SP was necessary to prevent you from ceasing to have a contract for the supply of energy to your property. However, you could argue that the bank details specifically are not required for the continuation of your supply, since SP does offer an option not to pay by direct debit (albeit with higher charges). There would be no point taking an insolvent company which is in administration to court, if this is even possible now it is in administration, so your only option for justice is to launch a judicial review in the High Court against Ofgem to legally challenge their Supplier of Last Resort regime....or you could either provide SP with the information they requested, or pay by card, cash or cheque at the higher rate in due course.0

As part of your move from Yorkshire Energy to ScottishPower, we've been trying to contact you to confirm which bank account you would like your direct debit payments to come from. As we've not heard back from you (or in some cases, only received partial information), we've now received your bank details via secure transfer from Yorkshire Energy. To help ensure as smooth a transition to ScottishPower as possible, we need your permission to use these bank details
Unfortunately, if we don't receive confirmation from you by 23rd December 2020, you'll have to pay for your energy by card, cash or cheque, which will work out more expensive for you.

I have also just rec.d the email, asking for bank details before 23rd dec. I am looking to keep my time with SP down to a minimum and transfer to the cheapest deal, i understand the advice was to wait for SP to set up the account, Does this email mean that the account is now set up and i am okay to start the transfer ?
I assume i am going to have to give them my details to cover the "limbo" period, and for recovery of the (c)£200 credit i have.
Whats the general consensus ? Cheers0 -
Until such time as both your supply of electricity and gas has been registered as being with Scottish Power (mine are both still showing as being with Daisy Energy Supply aka Yorkshire) any transfers to a different supplier are almost certainly going to be rejected. And even then you will need to time your move such that you will have been registered with Scottish Power for 28 days. You can find out who the registered supplier is by following the Ofgem advice.
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/consumers/household-gas-and-electricity-guide/connections-and-moving-home/who-my-gas-or-electricity-supplier
I shall be initiating any transfer of supply application at least 14 days after Scottish Power is showing as the registered supplier. You would have thought that the account should be fully set at the same time as the registration has been completed! At the moment neither has happened so we are all in limbo as it were.2 -

Has anybody who had already left YE, but have a credit balance to come back, heard a peep from SP?

Verdigris said:Has anybody who had already left YE, but have a credit balance to come back, heard a peep from SP?Nope. I was in credit for around £270. Still awaiting my final bill which would use up almost £130 for 3 months of electricity (my YE bills were quarterly - unlike most on here who seem to say that they received a bill monthly). The credit I was putting towards winters storage heater costs with my new supplier. 4 weeks tomorrow now and have no clue if / when I'll receive a final bill.I've also called and provided my details to Scottish Power. They had no record of me in their database from YE
